I Knit!

I just finished my "Green Gables" Top :) except it's gray and not green..lol

I love this pattern but it was short so I added more length and still it was shorter then I really liked. The pattern however is so easy!!! I am going to make it again with a LOT more length.

Pattern Review M5314 and S2758

McCalls 5314 View B

click to enlarge (sorry for the crappy pic)

Pattern Description: Dresses A, B, C have princess seams, collar with collar band, forward shoulder seams, flared skirt, self ties and sleeve variations; dress A has armhole facings; dress B has gathered sleeve with pleats and binding; dress C has three-quarter length sleeve with cuffs.

Pattern Sizing: I cut a size 6

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions are super simple.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked the whole thing, the bodice is easy to fit with multiple sizes for B, C, D cups etc..

Fabric Used: Cotton Swiss Dot in an eggplant color

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I didnt make any changes, the dress came together very easy. The only thing I will warn you about is the "NEVER ENDING FREAKIN HEM" I swear I was sewing the hem FOREVER....LOL

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would recommend it!

Conclusion: Love it!!!

Simplicity 2758 View C

Pattern Description: Skirts

Pattern Sizing: I cut a size 8

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Well Kinda

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, they are easy enough

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked the skirt but there were a few things I did different.

Fabric Used: A wonderful wool plaid

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: Okay, the first thing is that after I made the skirt I put it on the wrong way with the zipper to the back (it supposed to be a side zipper but when I put it on wrong I realized that I liked the effect of the center seam with the plaid so I left it this way. NOW really there is no change to the skirt it is technically sewn correctly I am just choosing to wear it with the zipper to the CB instead of to the side...lol and it works :)

Also, I fully lined the skirt, I just wanted something soft against my skin :) I will show pics of that later :)

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I think I might :) and I do recommend it. to the side ;)

Conclusion: Love this skirt, I am making a matching vest and a coordinating striped blouse which should be done by weeks end.

Pattern Description: Vogue 8305 Dress

Pattern Sizing: I cut a size 6

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes!

Were the instructions easy to follow? I didnt use them but I did read through them once before I started and they seemed fine.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the way this dress looks, and I love the neck and the gathering at the side seam.

Fabric Used: Double Knit

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: None! this fit right out of the envelope, I couldnt believe it..lol

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Oh Yeah!

Conclusion: I love this dress :) lol

Plaid Jacket
Pattern Description: McCalls 5531

Pattern Sizing: I cut a size 8

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes I think so

Were the instructions easy to follow? Super Easy

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I have made this pattern before in a Houndstooth but I really wanted to make it again with the longer sleeve version.

Fabric Used: Plaid something or another

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: none but the challenge with matching the plaid was a pain in my *ss

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I think I will retire this pattern for now..lol

Conclusion: I think it's hot but the Best part is the belt I made for it using the purchased leather closures :)

Proud Parent

Okay so of course I am biased right....LOL, but...

Im
so excited, Chastidy (my 15 yr old) told me she wanted to learn to play the guitar so I bought her one for Christmas. She has not put it down yet. But what has me so excited is that she can hear music which means she can listen to a song and play the notes. Granted she starting her lessons soon but for a kid who has never touched a guitar and has only had it since Christmas I am proud!!!

Here she is singing alone :)

Here she is singing with her lil sis Lexi, they wrote lyrics for me :) lol

They sped up the melody on the David Archuleta song :) lol Crush

So cute!!!!!

Simplicity 2694

Fabric: Printed Cotton

Modifications: None

Conclusion: This is a great little pattern I really love it. I think next time I will make the longer version eliminate the center pleat and add more volume to the skirt. I like this look with the leggings it is super cute!

I know I have made this like 4 times already...lol I added a turtleneck :)

I love this skirt, it fits really nicely and it is so comfy :)

Skirt: Self Drafted Pencil Skirt

Fabric: an amazing Tweed fabric I bought a few weeks ago, I love this fabric I wish you could touch it :) lol

Fabric: Silk Cotton Shirting

Modifications: Well, this was time consuming...geez! First I cut the princess panels and realized that the stripes would not match...Crap!!! so I re cut them and decided that I would angle the stripes on the side panels and it worked, it looks great! I then decided to angle the stripes on the cuff and I re-cut the collar so I could add a CB seam and create a chevron pattern for the CB.

Conclusion: I love this top!!!

On Petunia

On me

Fabric: Grey Brushed Wool

Modifications: None really I used two silver belt closures for the belt and added 1" to the length

Conclusion: I love it! it is so easy to make, I didnt even need the instructions, I does not call for a lining so i didnt make except for the peplum, I did not want to have a hem so I double faced it and then stitched it the bodice.

Fabric: Corduroy
Modifications: I used the belted closures instead of the hook and eyes.

Conclusion: I love this jacket, the pattern was great and easy to follow, I used a colorful lining because that seems to be a signature for me..lol

Would I recommend it: Yes, I think this is a great little jacket :)
