It's so cool...
to get emails from you guys especially when you have made something from one of my videos, here is an email I received from Deidra who used the maxi video to make a dress. GREAT JOB Deidra :)
Deidra Hughey
Just wanted to share with you the fact that I used your video tutorials to make a maxi dress using the draping method. I am so elated right now!! Thanks for posting such clear, straight to the point, and easy to follow videos. Please continue to post more.
I often have problems with instructions when sewing and usually walk away from my machine mad as hell. I made the dress this morning and will be wearing it today. I posted about it on my blog http://jumpthestitch.blogspot.com if you want to see how it turned out.
Thanks again. And this is the first thing I have made as far as clothes outside of revamping and without a pattern.

DC Part II
I also got to see a few things while in DC, I wanted to see the White House and so after walking around for so long by the time we got there it was night..lol, i was looking up at the windows and wondering if Obama could see me....lol
Holla atcha girl Obama... lol
The funny thing is that TV makes everything look so big and when I walked up and saw the White House I was like "that's it?" lmao, it was great but much smaller then I thought it would..lol

Im Back....
Hi guys! so I made back from DC yesterday and I was so tired, I was able to get some sight seeing in so that was cool (pics below) I also made it over to G Street Fabrics and picked up a few things but the best part of my trip was meeting Jacqui, Shawn and Netty they were all so great! and it really reminded me of why I do this blog to begin with, why I share my experience and give freely of my videos and stuff :) it's because there are really wonderful people out there who gain some bit of knowledge and it warms my heart that anyone would want to meet me because of my blog.
I truly appreciate all of you so much, you guys are kind, warm and always encouraging and for that I thank you so much. Netty (who needs a blog, come on girl..lol) gave me a lovely gift which I will take a pic of and post, Thanks Netty!
Here are a few pics of my time with the girls ( i took a few off of Jacquis blog..lol)

Thank you!

Thank you so much "The Stylist" for my award! I will post a few folks I would like to pass thins along to later today :)
PR: Butterick 5335
Morning everyone :)
I made a jacket and here is the review. I hear I should visit G Street Fabrics while I'm in DC, if you live in the surrounding areas let me know so we can meet :)

Pattern Description: Lined jacket A has pleated, raglan sleeves, pockets, gathered collar with casing, drawstring and snap closures.
Pattern Sizing: I cut a size 8
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Super Easy
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the pattern as a whole, its a cute little jacket.
Fabric Used: Very Lightweight Denim but I think I may make it again in a linen.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: None
Would you sew it again? Yes in a linen or cotton blend.
Would you recommend it to others? yep, it's totally cute.
Conclusion: Nice jacket and pretty quick project too considering it is lined and has pockets :)

PR: M5878...Finally!
I have actually sewn two thing over the weekend, one is my own personal design but I need to add a few thing so I will show that to you guys later. I also started and finished (key word finished) lol a new McCall Pattern.
Pattern Description: Fitted, sleeveless wrap tunic A with lined bodice and band, front and back pleats, stitched facing and hem, snap closing
Pattern Description: Fitted, sleeveless wrap tunic A with lined bodice and band, front and back pleats, stitched facing and hem, snap closing
Pattern Sizing: I cut a size 4 on the bodice and a 10 for the skirt portion
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes I think it does.
Were the instructions easy to follow? I didnt follow them, I just gave them a once over before I started, it's pretty easy to put together.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the look of it, it is so cute, I like the pleats in the front, I didnt so much like the back pleats so I fixed that and u can read about it below...lol
Fabric Used: Seersucker
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: The only two things I altered were the back and an extra pleat, okay here it is: The back skirt portion has you take two very small pleats, which I did and then when I tried it on I realized that all that did was create a really unflattering backside because it went straight from the back to the legs with out ANY definition. This is just nuts to me because as flattering and fitted as the front is you would think that they would have put a little more thought into the back..lol So instead what I did was removed the pleats and created large darts to take in the excess at the waist giving me a more flattering appearance.

Now, I know I was going from a size 4 at the waist to a 10 at the hip so I didnt want to grade it so much that I would lose the shape of the tulip so instead I cut the size 10 part of the skirt front, graded the back skirt from a 4 to a 10 at the hip and then I simply created an extra pleat in the front portion of the skirt to take up the extra ease.
Would you sew it again? Not sure if I will sew it again, I might.
Would you recommend it to others? Yes for sure, with the alteration :)
Conclusion: I love this!!

"The Fashion Show" Review
The show is actually still on, it's almost finished but I couldn't wait to review it so here it is.
Concept: I like the fact that unlike project runway the challenges seem to be more fashion focused then, here is a plastic cup and a coconut now make it work...lmao, the first challenge was for them to make a "must have" piece and create 5 looks for the one garment....nice, I like that.
Judges: Okay I like that they are using an actual fashion show and using a live audience of people in the industry including buyers who will all vote together.
Contestants: they are the same batch of folks who showed up for the PR casting im sure.
Host: I am IRRITATED,
Isaac Mizrahi, he's not my fav or even in my top five but he knows his stuff so I will give him that.
BUT! Kelly Rowland???? okay look as part of Destiny's Child I love her as a solo artist I love her but
what the hell is she doing as a host for this show, really come on! all the talented people we have in the
fashion industry and they choose Kelly??
She doesn't know anything about design, she knows how to wear fashion not make fashion and listening to
her make comments on the collections just made me want to turn off the show....lol
Bravo, come on really? she can not possibly give these contestants any real advice, opinions, or criticism so
what was the point? im totally confused by that.
Collections: Blah! what were most of them thinking? I mean it looked like a high school fashion show, they
lack sewing experience and some were just plain ugly..lol
I am not sure if I will watch again, we will see.
Peace!
