PR: V8534

Pattern Description: Tops

Pattern Sizing: I cute the smallest size

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes it did

Were the instructions easy to follow? they were very easy

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the look of the top, I like the length and I love the tie bow

Fabric Used: lightweight almost sheer knit

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: none

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I think I will sew it again but with changes. The top has no finished seams, just raw edges. I like the look on the one I made but I have this thing about raw edges so I may figure out a way to have all finished edges without adding bulk to the top.

Conclusion: other then what I mentioned above I like the top

Pattern Description: Misses Skirts

Pattern Sizing: I cut a size 6

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? did not use them but I gave them a once over before I started and they seemed fine.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the waistband and the pleats in the front, I like the shorter version and I like pockets so there ya go!

Fabric Used: Lightweight Denim

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Didn't make any changes but I did sew down the pleats about 3/4 of an inch so they lay flat

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will make it again in a flowing fabric soon. I recommend this skirt as a basic wardrobe builder it is really flattering.

Conclusion:

Organizing my INSANE pattern collection

I was reading my blogs last week and saw that Victoria had this great way to catalog her patterns so i decided I would steal it..lol

I foolishly thought I had maybe 200 patterns, i could get it done in a few hrs right??? HELL NO!
I went to Staples three times for more supplies and at the end I had counted just over 600 patterns!!! I have a problem..lol

I took the pattern and instructions out and placed them inside a 6x9 envelope, labeled the upper right hand corner and put the pattern envelope in a plastic insert and into my binders...i had to recruit help at this point :)

Here is my oldest staring at the piles..lol

Randy's job was to separate the envelopes by pattern company and then place them in alphanumeric order into the pattern cabinets..

The binders are so much easier to look through them going to the garage to look through my pattern cabinet..

I have five total...was still working on one

Top drawer is Simplicity and New Look
Second drawer is New Look and McCalls
Third is Butterick and Vogue and a few misc.. like Kwik Sew and Burda etc

I am loving my new system...Thanks Victoria :)

Pattern Review: S2443

S2443: Jacket (the dress is on the sewing table as we speak)

Pattern Description: Cynthia Rowley Collection. Misses' dress sewing pattern with knit bodice and jacket or vest.

Pattern Sizing: I cut a 6

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes it did

Were the instructions easy to follow? Super easy except for the placket, I used my own method.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved this pattern when I saw it, I liked it so much I paid full price for it..lol, I am not patient so I didn't want to wait until Joann had a sale. I finished the jacket and I am working on the dress now.

Fabric Used: I used a double knit even though it suggest a lightweight batik or similar but I knew if I made sure to trim my SA and interface correctly I could avoid any bulk and I did.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None. There is no lining in this pattern so U used ribbon to hide my SA's next time I think I will draft a lining.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will sew it once more and I do recommend it!

Conclusion: It is really a cute jacket, pics don't do it justice.
