Seafoam & Yellow

I am addicted to Pinterest! I saw this collage of Seafoam & Yellow and there was an outfit on there from J. Crew that I loved, mostly because of the colors so when I got home from work I searched my closet for these yellow pants I bought over 5 years ago and never wore. After mucho searching I found them and I had just purchase this sea foam (ish) color sweater last week. Here is my inspiration and my finished look :)

DIY Winter White Dress: Pattern Review of B5247

Good Morning! I woke up really chipper today for some reason. I am usually NOT a morning person but I went to bed really early last night so I think my body just feels rested. I made this dress last Christmas!!! and forgot it was even in my closet and realized I NEVER wore it....LOL so I definitely never reviewed it so here ya go.

Pattern Description: Semi-fitted pullover tunics

Pattern Sizing: Size 8

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? The pattern is label easy and fast and it is both! I made this before in a print years ago and I remember I didn't need the instructions then either, it is super easy and great for a beginner.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like that is comfy to wear and really cute.

Fabric Used: Off White DK

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I didn't make any changes but I did exclude the belt because it is fitted enough along the bottom that I can pull it up and wear it without a belt.

Would you sew it again? No because I have made two already and I am going to retire this one.

Would you recommend it to others? I recommend this for sure.

Conclusion: This is a great pullover dress to make and it wear really nicely!

What I Wore...

Black Boots & Tights
Orange and Off White Bag from Forever 21
Various Bangles, MK Watch, Pearl Ring

Pattern Sizing: 6

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? I have made this one before so I didn't use them but the first time around yes this is a very easy dress to make.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the side pleat and the length, I also like the the way it fits, simple and cute.

DIY: Pattern Review on B5415 Modified

B5415 Modified

I saw this really neat faux suede in the costume section at Joann and new that I needed to make a faux suede top. I also knew that the fabric needed to be the focus so I choose a simple pattern, only thing was the pattern was for a dress so I hacked off the bottom and altered the back view so that it came down to a nice low V, I added a cool gold zipper and altered the length of the sleeves just a bit.

Pattern Description: Misses Dresses

Pattern Sizing: I cut the XS

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? well kind of...lol

Were the instructions easy to follow? This is a fast and easy patten

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked how simple is was and I really liked that it would showcase my fabric.

Fabric Used: Printed Faux Suede

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Well aside from the obvious...making it a top with a slight rounded hem and not a dress I also made the back a low V neck and added a gold visible zipper.

Would you sew it again? I might but not as a dress, maybe another top. Would you recommend it to others? I can recommend it as a top but don't know how it would look as a dress, its kinda boxy looking.

Conclusion: I love the way my top turned out.

DIY Tweed Pants & Pattern Review on B5561

B5561 & Self Drafted Pants

Pattern Description: Loose fitting tops

Pattern Sizing: size 8

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, they are really clear and easy to follow

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I really like this pattern and I love the print on my fabric. The top is really cute and I like the folded pleat/gather.

Fabric Used: I got a printed charmeuse I picked up in downtown.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I altered the sleeves because I didn't want them long and I didn't want the short version they offered so I made them the length that I wanted, lol

Would you sew it again? I will be making one more of these

Would you recommend it to others?  Yes!

Conclusion: I really love this top

My Tweed Pants

The pants are from a self drafted pattern I made last year, I love this pattern so much and it took me a lot of fitting attempts before I got it just right so I am very proud of it. Now when I sew these up they always fit perfectly!

I love the slim look of these pants!

Here is my fabulous front fly, I use Sandra Betzina's Method to applying a fly front zipper.

My label and finished fly

I always do a fitting before I sew on my waistband because although I know the pattern is perfect, the fabric reacts differently and they all have a different hand so I try them on to make sure I got a good fit and also depending on the fabric you use you have to take into account that certain fabrics "grow" throughout the day and since this tweed will do that I make them a little tighter with that in mind....you don't want soggy pants at the end of the day :)

What I Wore:
B5561 Top
Self Drafted Pants
Steve Madden Nude Pumps
Badgley Mischka Clutch
