Make The Look.....

You know I love to shop as much as I love to make my clothes so I wanted to share a "make the look" option for those who may want to sew up my look today. Ok, so I have chosen two patterns that will work for this look but remember that the pics on the patterns are often not that appealing and that you have to look beyond that to the possibilities, lol I promise you if they hired me to style the models and do the photo shoots they would sell more patterns *sigh* but I digress.....

Here are the two patterns for this look:

Palmer Pletsch M6613: Mens/Women's Shirt
I chose this pattern because it is a unisex pattern and had all the right details; the pockets are a good match, the collar and rolled up sleeves w/ tabs etc. My Gap shirt is a boyfriend fit so this pattern will give you that look without having to fuss with it too much.

I chose this pattern because it closely resembles my NY&Co. Bermuda's and it is simple enough that if you wanted to make changes, like a cuff or no pockets you can do so easily. The flare on the shorts may be a bit wide and they may not be long enough but those are simple fixes by taking in the side seam a bit and extending the hem.

  2. The short and pants you make always fit you so well and look so professional. I can sew pretty much a anything but shorts/pants. I always have the worst fit issues. Do you have any tips for fitting pants?

    1. Hi Rachel, pants are tricky and honestly the fitting of it comes with tine and practice. I spend a lot of time fitting pants because every fabric is different and reacts different so its always a learning process ;-)

  5. ha - I was waiting to see how you were going to rock those shoes ~ like!! As for the patterns, hmmm. I haven't made shorts or a shirt. I think I'm still too new for those. I will have to graduate to that world eventually...maybe now's a good time :)

  12. Love the outfit and the "Make the Look" option is great!! It is hard for me to see the "potential" in the patterns like you do. :) Sometimes it is really hard to picture the finished garment in a fresh, modern way, since the models and styling they use are so awful!

    Thanks for sharing!
