#DIY Perfect Pants & Peplum + Pattern Review + GIVEAWAY!

Video is fixed now and not private.

Hi Darlings!

I always get so excited when I pull out a pattern, cut it out, sew it up and it fits! that rarely ever happens and it happens even less with pants! pants patterns are probably the most difficult thing to make not because it is hard to put together because actually pants are relatively easy to construct but fitting them is an entirely different beast.

Needless to say that when I find a pants pattern that fits without any major adjustments it becomes a TNT (Tried and True) pattern for me and this pattern is just that! The video review below has my thoughts on the pattern and the slight adjustment I made.

Now I am so excited about these pants that Simplicity has been generous enough to give me TWO ADDITIONAL PATTERNS TO GIVEAWAY!

Simplicity.com - Tools for Creativity

I will select TWO WINNERS on Sunday so check back then. All you have to do for a chance to win this fantastic pattern is to leave a comment here on the blog and "LIKE"or leave a comment on Simplicity's Facebook Wall

#DIY Pants NL 6189 (similar) HERE / #DIY Peplum Top reviewed HERE  (similar) HERE /
Wild Pair Lindsay Wip Heels (old)

Fabric: I used a wonderful black wool crepe found HERE but these would be great in THIS denim or in THIS amazing printed silk twill *swoon* / Interfacing: I know you have heard me say it but interfacing is just as important and will ruin your project if you don't choose properly. HERE is the interfacing I used for the waistband it was perfect!

  8. Hello, Mimi. I want to say that following your blog has inspired me to getting back into sewing. Just last night I was at Joanne's Fabric picking up some patterns, for dresses and shirts and fabric. I also looked through the book for pants, but like you said they can be a little difficult, and I didn't know which ones would be easier, so I didn't buy a pants pattern at all.

  9. Looks Good! I'm about 5'4" and love ankle pants, some would say to stay away because they shorten your legs, but with high heels, its a go.
I have some printed stretch denim fabric that would look great too! Love the top as well.

  24. I have the same problem as you when it comes to body shape (small waist and a larger bum LOL) I hope to sew these pants and not have to make as much adjustment as some of the other patterns. You rocked it girl, of course you always do :)

  26. Mimi, those pants are SO SO HOT! I love the way they look. If I win, I'll make up those pants right away and wear them to work :) I like that they need very little alteration (well, I may need to do some anyway) - I've been intimidated working on pants.

  29. Thanks Mimi, I bought that same pattern a month ago and I also bought NL6184 which I just cut out I will be trying my hand at View A and E. But because of your review those pants will definitely be my next project - we almost have the same body shape ( I have a biggg bum and large hips and thighs as well as big calves) and I have tried my hand at a pants pattern before but that was a big fail so I get intimidated and do try. When I saw the NL6189 I liked it but was still intimidated and because of your review I am not afraid to try, thank you for sharing.

  33. I love these pants. I bought the J Crew version but they are poorly made. They are too thin to wear in the winter although they are made of wool. Can you point me in the direction of figuring out how to choose the right interface for particular fabrics? Thanks in Advance

I really love the pants and can truly understand what you mean about making a perfect pair of pants because of our "unique shape". Have you thought about doing a pants tutorial? If you have one, where can we find it? Once again, great job! I did "like" Simplicity on Facebook. Hope I win..
