#DIY Lace Peplum Dress + Pattern & Fabric Giveaway + Review!


Hi Darlings!

I could not wait to finish this dress and although I cut it out last weekend I just didn't have time to sew it so yesterday I took the day to do some sewing. My review of the pattern is below along with a "Get The Look" option for my non-sewing dolls.

Also, I have GREAT GIVEAWAY!! Simplicity 1650 (plus sizes included) along with 3 Yards of my fabulous LACE FABRIC!!! open to domestic and international fans.

Pattern: S1650 View A 

Fabric Used: Corded Raschel Lace with Scalloped Edges in "Electric Grape" they also have it in other amazing bright colors HERE  and you can still use this months coupon code"MIMIAPRIL10"
I used a Bemberg lining found HERE

Pattern Sizing: I cut size 6 ( I cut a size 8 for the skirt and just graded down to 6 at the waist) 

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope when you were done? Yep

Were the instructions easy to follow? I didn't use the instructions because I used a sheer lace and had to create a lining from the pattern pieces it so I just used my own methods. I did however read them for the sake of the review and they were clear and easy to understand. There are not many pieces and the princess seams allow for a better fit and easy adjustments.

 What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I am a sucker for a peplum ;-)

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None. I did however create a lining with the pattern pieces.

Would you sew it again? I will probably make it again in a casual eyelet fabric.

Would you recommend it to others? Most certainly!

    Wow, love the lace fabric and it looks fabulous in that pattern. I wear tops (store-bought though) like that already but only with pants but think this style would look good on me and great in my wardrobe

    I checked this out on Facebook and I am glad to see that you used that finished edging of the fabric as your "hem" for the sleeves, top and skirt!! I love finding fabrics with a finished edge. I used a white eyelet that had a finished edge for my daughters kindergarten graduation lined with white broadcloth. She was the cutest thing there!!! Great job as always Mimi!!!

    I love love love this dress...not only is it my fav color its gorgeous....you have truly inspires me to get back on my sewing machine....i am in the process of making more of the diys youve posted lately....when my grandmother had her cancer scare she passed down her sewing machines to me in hopes that i would carry on what she started...her hopes and the inspiration you give has helped me alot so thanks for that...im not only gonna repost on instagramand twitter (i dont fb) im gonna post on my blog (katinalatrice.blogspot.com)

    Gorgeous dress. love the color and style. I'm wondering if you have a block or sloper because you seem to whip these up in no time. Do Simplicity patterns run pretty standard with their sizing? So if I made up a dress, could I just use the same measurements for that particular bodice for the next one? (does my question even make sense??)

      I have been sewing for over 20 years, I know my body really well and have figured out most all of the adjustments I need to make. Once you learn how pattern companies design and add ease you can start to learn how to use the printed finished measurements on the tissue to cut the correct size.
