DIY Pleated Skirt + Pattern Review M6706

Hi Darlings!

I would normally have more to say today but I am just going to share my pattern review with you and check back in tomorrow. Be well dolls! xoxo

Fabric: Metro Textiles Call Kashi: 212-209-0004 / Pattern: M6706 / Heels (old) Aldo /
Belt @ Target / Necklace and Bracelet @ Charming Charlie

Pattern: M6706

Fabric Used: I have no idea what this fabric is. It has a little stiffness to it which makes the pleats awesome to make.

Pattern Sizing: I cut the 6

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope when you were done? Yep I think so.

Were the instructions easy to follow? This a pretty straight forward skirt, just please the fabric and attach it to the straight waistband, insert zipper and you're done.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I wanted a pleated skirt for some time and this just happen to be the perfect fabric for it, it would also be a good fabric for a blazer but I didn't have enough.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None.

Would you sew it again? I may make another in leather, soon...like really soon.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes!

xoxo

  4. Mimi for a new beginner aka me. Can you please give me some idea of what would be a good fabric to use for the pleated skirt. I <3 this. Thanks Much :)

    1. You can use anything really to make pleats but woven's works best like cottons and if they have a stiffer feel that makes it even better ;-)

  12. Mimi, I love many of the skirts and dresses you sew. However, I would wear mine to work and would like them to come below the knee. How could I lengthen the garment without losing the integrity of the pattern? Thanks, Chantea

    1. The pattern has length variations. I made mine shorter, the pattern without modification came to my knees.

  14. I like how you show that you can't always take a pattern for it's face value. You can take something simple and give it your own personal style. I believe that's one of the reasons why no matter how simple the pattern is, you make it look good and it inspires us to do the same.

  15. I didn't read all the comments so forgive me if this was asked, I just bought some bordeaux denim and was planning on making a mock American Apparel circle skirt very similar to this. do you think denim would fall right for this pattern or be too heavy?

    1. You can make a circle skirt out of denim, it will be fine.

  19. Hi Mimi! I love how this skirt looks, and great material choice as well. Question, how would I size this pattern down for say a size 2 or size 4? Please help, beginner here.

    Thanks,
