DIY Track Pants & Crop Top + Pattern Review V8909

Hi Darlings!

I am so pumped today (maybe I had too much coffee) but either way I am just feeling excited and blessed and ready to take on the world, lol!

Let's Talk OOTD: The pants pattern is V8909 View B. This pattern is FANTASTIC! It has just the right amount of ease, the fit is great and the style is just what I was looking for. I also really love the fact that I can wear these dressed up or down. I have reviewed the pants pattern below for you and plan to make them in leather soon. The top is self drafted because I couldn't find a pattern that I could easily manipulate, so it just seemed easier to make it from scratch. The top is a high/low crop which is also going to be a future tutorial.
For custom orders on the crop top EMAIL ME

Pattern: Pants Pattern V8908 View B

Fabric Used: I used a stable double knit which I think is perfect for this pattern. There are many great colors HERE and use the coupon dolls "MIMI10"

Pattern Sizing: I cut the small

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope when you were done? Yep

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, the pants come together rather quickly. The only think that takes a little time if you are new to sewing is making the stitching lines for the elastic casing and maybe the buttonholes for the drawstring.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked everything. I was a little suspect because sometimes these patterns look like they will look good but are drafted really big or without style details but this one is a winner for me and will stay in rotation.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I did not do the buttonholes for the drawstring because I knew I wanted a flat front so I just folded over, created the casing and inserted my elastics.

Would you sew it again? Yes. I plan to make them in leather and sequin ;-)

Would you recommend it to others? Most certainly!

  10. Thanks! Your reviews are so helpful. I overlooked this in the Vogue pattern book even though I have been looking for a dressier style elastic pant I can throw on on casual Fridays! The really great thing about this pattern is that it can be made in stable knits AND lightweight wovens so no need to have to hunt down special knits. Winner for sure and you look lovely.

  17. Can this be one of our sew a longs? In leather and sequins? I definitely want a pair of each. I can also see them in a nice plaid as well ( on a plaid kick right now). I'm on my later today to Jomar's fabric sale to see if I can find me some sequins or something cute to make these track pants! Waiting for the shirt tutorial!!!

  18. Mimi I love them! And I am super excited that you are going to make them in leather! I've wanted leather joggers for the winter but I don't want to pay $400 for them. Do you purchase your leather locally or online? And PLEASE post when you're done because I have no idea how to sew leather. Love everything you do!

  19. Mimi! Love them. I think I might need to make some. I've been eying harem pants but these would be a similar idea and more flattering. I was wondering if you have your measurements posted somewhere... so we could see where you fit in on the suggested size on a pattern but what you actually cut to achieve the look you get... for more of those bodycon numbers. I keep cutting sizes that are too big for me and having to take out a lot from my side seams...

Also I love the idea of leather pants like this but I hardly eat meat and have a hard time justifying leather... do you ever see good faux options? or is that wishful thinking?
