DIY Little Green Dress & Belt + Franken-pattern Info

Hi Darlings!!

I am keeping it short and sweet today. I used two different patterns to make the little green dress which is always fun to do because it gives you a chance to look beyond the envelopes and be creative.

I used the bodice of V8815,minus the peplum of course, and I used M6842 View A for the skirt. I lengthened the the bodice by 1" and then sewed the bodice together and sleeves, then the skirt and joined them at the waist. It was super simple and worked like a charm. The only few adjustments I needed to make were at the waist. The thing I love most is my self covered belt! They are so easy to make if you have some belting and a covered buckle kit. Sometimes having a fabric covered belt just makes the sewn garment look even more fab!

I made the dress out of a Kelly Green Athletic Spandex that I seem to be obsessed with. I even told Regina at Michael Levine to save me every color that comes in. It's almost like an amazing light weight scuba fabric that holds it shape like no other, I love it!! shoot for a second I almost hated sharing LOL!!! don't buy it all up! but if you do buy don't forget to use my coupon "mimi10"

  3. How many yards did you use?

  4. I wish my butt wasn't so big. Short stuff like that I would have to put leggings on with it. But that is very very cute. I might still try to do it and see what I can pull off. And green is my favorite color.

  6. Cute as always, Mimi. Is that fabric like a double knit? I'm thinking it would look like nice as straight leg pants. I can never find the right fabric for that.

  7. So Cute... just wondering if leggings in that same material be just as flattering with the "little green" dress.

  10. This is gorgeous as usual, but dang it Mimi I am frustrated with you! Could you please post something that those of us with stacked figure 8 shapes can wear (by that I mean an 8 on top of an 8 lol). I had a flat stomach until I turned 40 and then I looked down and couldn't see my feet! something a bit less figure following please. In the mean time I am doing crunches like a demon!

    1. I don't think we can expect Mimi to make and wear things that aren't her style and items that show off her banging figure is definitely part of her signature look.

  17. I love this! I have been wanting to make this exact dress but didn't have a good bodice pattern! I can't wait to try this myself. I have made the skirt before and yours looks a bit different. Did you top stitch most of the seams? Also could you tell me what sizes in the bodice and skirt you used?

    Thank you! Love ya girl!

    1. I did, I top stitched the seams of the flounce to make them stand out more. I cut the smallest size (don't remember) but still had to remove a lot of excess.
