My Leg Workout + Food

Hi Darlings!

So if I am asked one question across all my social media outlets is is always "what is your leg workout?" so although I do many different ones depending on the day or what I am working out, I thought I would share my leg day at the gym today. I did my 6 basic leg exercises that help keep my legs shapely.

)

I also wanted to show you guys an example of what my three main meals consist of since I don't really "diet" I simply make better choices every day with every meal. I will be talking more about that next Wednesday with the return of "Work It Wednesday"

I usually maintain a carb cycling schedule where I have one high carb day and one low carb day and I alternate from week to week. (read about carb cycling) I always start my day with some form of carb, veggies and a protein, Below is my favorite breakfast; veggie omelet and whole grain toast with a few slices of avocado. Most importantly I drink a lot of water! I eat very quick and easy snacks twice a day which usually consist of carrots, apples, almonds, sometimes just a cup of broccoli etc.

I dice up my veggies and saute them in 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil.
I use these amazing frozen herbs to season my food. I also use the garlic one but didn't have a pic.
For lunch I will usually just have a protein shake and about 3 ounces of grilled chicken breast on the side. I add protein powder to my smoothies and a ton of green leaf goodness. I love my nutribullet!
For dinner I will usually have some form of lean protein, veggies and on my high carb days will have either 3 small baby potatoes or 1/4 cup of brown rice.
I hope this gives you a little glimpse of what I do and if you have questions please put them in the comments and I will go through and answer them tonight.

  1. Hey love! I cannot wait to purchase my Nutri Bullet. My best friend's wife made a shake and sold me. Do you use water or juice in your shakes?

Also, if you can edit this blog post, you typed 'ss' in your word add.

  4. I love how many veggies you eat for breakfast in your omelet. Everyone thinks that I'm crazy for eating so many veggies in the morning, but I think it starts my day off right. Do you really not eat any snacks? I have to admit that I can't help eat something between lunch and dinner most of the time. :)

  7. I found a nutri bullet knockoff for $3 at WalMart last year. It's fantastic! I've been making smoothies for the family. I keep bags I've made ahead of fruit/veggies in my freezer so I only have to dump it in the bullet in the morning. I use almond milk in mine and often add peanut butter or oatmeal.

  8. Hey Mimi, thanks for sharing your leg workout... I definitely want to implement some weight training into my new lifestyle. Are there any particular vitamins that you take? and how many times a week do you work out? I've been told that I would have to workout 5xs a week to lose, but maybe only 3xs to maintain. Thanks :)

    1. I take a multi vitamin twice a day (morning and night) I work out 5 days a week, sometime twice if I run in the mornings I will do my weights in the afternoon or evening. 3 days a week to maintain is about right. I am working on shredding some more so I am up to 5 days a week with double workouts 3 days a week. xoxo

  11. Hi Mimi,

I have to lose about 15-20lbs for my upcoming beach vacation in June. Do you think incorporating the legs exercises with cardio will shape my legs by then? How many times a week should I perform them?

    ReplyDelete
  12. girth around the middle is fat - lose the fat and lose the girth

so all things mimi has suggested you should do - you definitely have to get weight training in there as well as cardio - I also add the 10000 steps per day that has really shaped my legs and lower stomach area

everyone as mimi suggest needs to map out there own program - what worked for her may or may not work for you

so document what you do and do a check ever 4 - 6 weeks with a tape measure or tight clothing.

if it is working keep going and check ever 4 - 6 - when you plateau change it up

if it is not working - you have to tweak something either your nutrition (and that does not mean lowering calories) or your workouts (frequency, intensity or time)

good luck on your lifetime journey because it is one

  16. Way to go! I do similar exercises, but probably don't go as heavy as you do. I like that you squat. So many girls pass it, but it's the best exercise for all over tone.

  17. To the poster who wants to know about mayo, I started using yogurt dressing instead, similar to this one. http://www.maries.com/products.aspx?catID=24&pcatID=1 It's very low in calories, carbs and sodium and it tastes good. I use it as mayo, for salad dressing and when I make chicken, tuna or egg salad. I don't miss the mayo and I LOVE mayo. I find it in the produce section of my market.

  18. Hi!! I am so happy you shared your meal plan. I do the same and some would think I am nuts but I do clean eating with 4 small meals making sure I have my proteins carbs and fats in proportion and then I have 3 boiled eggs every night. This helps with my strength training since I want more muscle definition..I am just so glad to know that someone else eats clean too!! I love my nutra bullet..and i am from the islands so i love love avocado!!

  19. Just to clarify, you've listed "leg extensions" but what you're doing is actually seated leg curls (which work your hamstrings) while leg extensions would have worked your quads (the pads would be in front of your leg and you'd be extending your legs forward and upwards)...
