OOTD: Chevron Maxi Dress

Hi Darlings,

I hope you guys had a wonderful weekend because I sure did! My babies are so amazing that I can't help but to do as much as I can for them. They are good students, great siblings to one another, they do their chores, homework, and go to bed like clockwork every night. They are polite, respectful and hilarious! and we try our best to reward good behavior and encourage family time.

The most important part of raising my kids is creating memories. When I was a kid I remember the monetary gifts mom gave me; I had new clothes, a nice room, nice furniture etc.. but my mom worked two full time jobs, so we didn't have a lot of time together. I wish I had more memories and experiences as a child with her. Then when I was a single mom I understood why she worked so hard and why it was difficult to find time to do things together, and I could then appreciate her sacrifice.

Now that I am afforded the opportunity to work from home and make my own schedule I thank God that he has blessed me with a talent that I can make a living from because it allows me to create memories with the babies. This weekend we took the kids to Six Flags Magic Mountain and I couldn't believe how brave my two little ones were! I will say it now; I am a straight chicken, and I only got on a few (very few) rides. The hubby and kids, however, pretty much gave me a heart attack just watching them. If you follow me on IG you probably saw the video of one of the rides. I'll do a IG recap post this week for those not on Instagram.

Okay....now onto the outfit of the day. You guys are going to be upset with me and I know it, because I can't link to the dress anymore. I bought it two summers ago and it's not available; It was from Bebe. I am thinking a tutorial may be in order for this one....yes?

  4. Family is our first ministry and I just enjoy how you love your family. Yes, please do a tutorial for this dress. Do you plan on doing or have you already done a tutorial on the math behind the measurements....on how to decide if you want flare in a skirt, if you want the skirt to be form fitting or have more drape etc? I recently started sewing classes and blew their minds when I came in with a a maxi skirt made from learning from you. You are indeed a blessing

  5. YES, a tut would be very much appreciated. I totally understand the struggle with finding the balance between working, family time and "me" time. Creating those memories that your children will forever have is so important.

  7. Wow, you found a great dress. It's very hard these days to find a store bought dress where the stripes match on the sides. Only a seamstress will pay attention to that kind of detail.

  19. Lovely OOTD! Those wedges have to be about 6" :) I so love the spiritual nuggets you share with us, to God be all the Glory for what He has done for you and your family. Even though this is your business, you have given so much of yourself to us and it is greatly appreciated. Mimi, your testimony will help others and myself included, to keep things in perspective, blessings and love to you and your family xoxo.

  21. Yeeeesssss! Please do tutorial. Mimi if you do a tutorial, can you please do an option that covers bras straps. I simply can't go strapless or braless, so I haven't been able to enjoy these lovely maxi's, but I am in love with this dress and I'd love to make one I could wear. Headed out to get some fabris for one of your tutorials this weekend.

I love the maxi dresses, but I have yet to make one because I can't go strapless or braless, too much treasure in the chest. But,this is beautiful and I'd love to be able to wear it. Headed out to get some fabric for a tutorial this weekend.

  32. Great dress Mimi!!! You are a standout! Look at those seams matching perfectly! My mom has been a seamstress for all of my life and taught 4 girls how to sew. Unfortunately, I never have had the patience for it. But I definitely have the eye for a well made piece. You have sparked my interest again! Thank you and God Bless you!

  36. I absolutely love this dress! One question: As I am top heavy, is it possible to make the straps wider without taking away from the beautiful design of this dress?

  37. The placement of the stripes is perfection. You look like a beautiful mermaid :)
