  5. Mimi I just discovered your blog and I love it! I watched you log on the maxi skirt and I can't wait to make one. I do have one question. Do you have a pattern for your maxi skirt with the belted sash? I know that you used a pattern for the skirt and added the waistband, pockets, belt loops, and sash. Since I am new to sewing I'm not sure I can freestyle just yet.

  24. I just discovered your blog via Pinterest and I am so inspired. I just started sewing a few months ago because many of the clothes made for full-figured women (size 18) are often frumpy and the nice stuff is really expensive so I can't afford to buy all of the time. I just wanted to say that I really dig your style and planning to download your sewing tutorial soon.

    Peace and Blessings,

  34. Hi Mimi
I would like to make the maxi pants suit you have... how ever I want to use the Suede like material... Do you think this will be too heavy to drape? I have made the maxi with a beautiful leave print with a color block twist. All off of your tutorial and my own creative mind. Please let me know what you think about the suede like for the maxi pants.

Thanks a bunch and keep turing up more ideas for me!!! ;)

  35. Hello Mimi!! I am actually very new to the "fashion world" growing up as a tom boy lol but i was looking at a few websites and facebook pages and i found an outfit of yours that i LOVED! I found your OOTD's (im in love with all of them lol) but i cant seem to find one outfit that i ran across on a fb page. You have on a animal printed scarf, dark blue jeans, some tan/camel colored open toe heels and this white shirt that is REALLY LONG in the back and shorter in the front. i LOVE THAT OUTFIT!! i wanted to know, did u make that shirt or did u purchase it somewhere? And if u made it, do u show how u did it anywhere? im soooo excited about it and i want to make one before it starts snowing! LOL

  38. You are freakin frackin amazing! A week ago, I snagged the red jeans and jean shirt and wore it (with black suede round toe pumps and a black and tan tribal like belt) to a Chrisette Michele concert and got pretty good feedback! Thanks for the inspiration. I believe I may have "borrowed" another style from you as well. I'll see if I can tag it in Facebook. Continue to do great work because there are many who are watching and can use the inspiration! I'll try and get my sewing machine out of the storage and start on the simple things like pencil skirts! LOL

    1. Hi so sorry I try my best to get to everyone. I would recommend going with the Brother CS-6000i for $150 That machine lasted me YEARS when I bought it for my students to work on.

  52. Hi Mimi, love how you put together your outfits and the different colors you mix. I am learning through you, how to step outside the box because all I wear is black and brown. I bought some burgundy wedge heels with a brown flap on the front and brown trim. What colors would you mix with those?

  53. I love love love your blog... You have inspired me so much. And by the way your body looks amazing (six kids) I'm pretty short and was wondering how tall are you.. I would like to do the maxi look but always figured I was too short. I am a newbie and really would like to get my feet wet (I'm going to start with the straight lines first :-). Anyway, thanks for a great blog, your style tips and just inspiring me to not be afraid of color or my style.

  55. Hey Ms. Mimi

Love, love love ur style and the skirts are adorable. You're so tiny and petite like my niece, I on the other hand am not, I want to make the wide leg pants and regal maxi skirt. I'm 5ft 9.5 on a good day, & super curvy. I'm wondering if I need to make adjustments on the length?. I'm a better knitter than sewer, but I'm willing to give it a go. whatcha think?

PS: Have a fab New Years an stay safe.

  60. Hello Mimi, I wanted to say that you are very, very talented, but I'm sure that you've heard that before. I do have a question for you, no I am not asking you to sew for me. LOL! I really like your style, but sometimes funds can be limited and we as women want to dress cute and dressing cute is not always cheap.

So my question is "If you had a $100 budget to buy clothes, shoes and accessories, how would you spend it?" Would you make the clothes or would you buy them and if possible can you show us how to style on a $100 budget.

  61. Hey Mimi,

I love your style!!!! I am 52 years old, have no experience sewing but, have to say that you have inspired me. I am recently divorced, have lost over 100lbs and now want to be "cute". It's till cold here in Chicago so Hopefully I'll have time to crank out a couple of skirts at least.

Any suggestions for true beginner patterns? Thank you in advance!

    Peace and Blessings,

    Shirl

  63. Hi Mimi- I discovered your blog last year on Pinterest, and instantly became a fan. I have just finished reading all of your entries (took me a few months) and let me just tell you that you are an insipiration. I haven't dusted off my sewing machine yet (that's coming), but you've shown me how to rock a lot of the clothes I already have and how to accessorize as well. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! P.S. You have also motivated me to quit smoking too! YAY! :-D
