New Tutorial!! EASY DIY Top

Hi Darlings!

This tutorial is super easy and fast to make. It is so cute with jeans and can be made with options.

You can omit the straps and keep it strapless, you can also leave the hem flowy and not add the elastic at the hem. You can skip the faux ruffle and just make the top using a 1 1/4" fold at the top for the elastic casing instead. Once you start to make the top you will better understand how easy it is to make the changes I listed above.

Enjoy and please make sure to email me pics when you guys are done or post on my FB wall!!

Step by Step Tutorial

  1. Hi Mimi,

Thanks for another great tutorial. You make it all so easy with your great instructions. Just a quick question, do you finish the raw ends of the straps so that they don't fray?

    Thanks,
    Ronnie

  10. Ms. Mimi - it's really nice to meet you over the web :-). I love your top, however, I'm a busty girl with a small bottom so this one may not do me justice. ;-) I was going to continue being a lurker but I've already gone through quite a few of your vlogs and see that you like for people to reveal themselves. I made your DIY easy maxi using a more stiff cotton knit - thanks to you (will post pics later)!! My mother is a bit jealous since she's a seamstress and has been trying to get me to sew since I was about 8. Thanks for all you're doing. Your style is wonderful and classy. Keep up the GREAT work.

  19. I plan on wearing one of these this weekend gurl. I'm so excited. I've been trying to get one of my older daughters to sew for years. I got her to start following you on pinterest and when I got home today she showed me a sewing machine she's thinking of buying. Yes, another one bites the dust, now to keep her out of my stash.

  22. Okay so this is completely unrelated to this post buuuut I wanted to let you know that I FREAKING LOVE YOUR BLOG. You can rock anything and make it look awesome and your outfits provide me with the inspiration to try crazy new outfit combos that I would normally never have the gall to experiment with. Thank you! Also. I love your shoes. That is all.

  23. Thanks for this great tutorial, Mimi! I'm not a sleeveless kind of girl, so I was thinking that flutter sleeves might work with this top. What do you think and what would be the best approach given the current style of the top?

    Thanks,
    Beth
