Hi Mimi, I would love to sign up for the course. One question, will you be using a specific pattern or can I use any blazer pattern? Only ask because I was wondering if I would be able to find the pattern in Europe. Really looking forward to the class :)
ReplyDeleteHi Monique
DeleteYou will be able to use any blazer pattern that has similar design details like the collar etc. I will also provide a list of the ones I recommend. I also think there are a few that can be printed online ;-)
Hi Mimi,
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit and I am excited about the new tutorial. One question... I am fairly new to sewing. I took your free sewing class (very good by the way) and was able to make the skirt without many problems. Do you think I should tackle this tutorial or maybe get a couple of other things under my belt first? Have a great day!
If you made the skirt you can make the blazer. I will be just as detailed in the steps as my other tutorials so you will be able to follow along ;-) I promise.
DeleteBTW, way to go with the skirt!!
Hey Mimi -
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute outfit!! Enjoy your day!!
Thanks Martha!
DeleteMimi I finished the skirt (M6706)I wanted to post it so you could see, but it's not allowing me to do so under comments. How do I get you the picture?
ReplyDeleteemail it to me or post it on my facebook wall doll.
DeleteMimi, I am so excited for this tutorial!! I finally found that riding jacket pattern (OOP) you made with the black and white floral print, but so afraid to make it. I think this tutorial will help me get ready for that! I also have that yellow blazer pattern and material (like a Chanel blazer)but was afraid of that also. Thank you for ALL you share with us. I am learning so much! And I know you are a grown woman, but you look so damn* cute in this outfit!!
ReplyDeleteLOvE t
Thanks Tiffany!!!! Don't be scared, I will get you through it.
Deleteyaaayyyyyy!!!
ReplyDeleteYou must have been reading my mind Mimi...I just started at a new school and I dress casual for work and I wanted to start wearing blazers to dress it up a little bit...I am super duper excited!!!! I think I have all of the tutorials except the jumpsuit...I am a little bottom heavy so I am nervous about making pants for my self...will you be doing a simple pant pattern and will you be doing any pattern catered to the winter months?
ReplyDeleteLOL, Pants are coming after the blazer ;-)

ReplyDeletethis class sounds like a winner to me!!! my question is this, will the tutorials be like the skirt tutorial? meaning, will we be able to go back to it for review and reference? this would be soooooo helpful.

Trena
Yes of course, once the course is published you will have a password to access the videos anytime you want ;-)
DeleteWill the video's be accessible only on certain days or just not until October. I'm a student I won't have time for a project like this till Christmas break :( but I'm dying to have a blazer built for me... my shoulders and torso are more narrow than my waste/hips so I always have problems with the fit :-/
ReplyDeletesmh ignore that post... I just read the one from 2:23 :-/
ReplyDeleteLOL, it is all good.
DeleteWoo hoo! I really want the pants tutorial but going to sign up for this one as well. I just have to get all of your tutorials, LOL, you're such a great teacher.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI'm so excited, I just told my hubby I would take a sewing class and here you come...I'm new to sewing so having video will be awesome...Ian do you have a tutorial, blog post or anything were you mention how to identify fabric and the best uses for them....

ReplyDeleteLOL, that is my favorite jacket.
DeleteYou look so pretty and fresh!...I may have said this before but its worth mentioning again...I love this blog and you are one of my favorite sewing ladies!...Thanks so much for sharing your know-how with us! and I LOVE those shoes! ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!
DeleteYeah, Yeah, Yeah. I am so freaking excited. You know I follow you like a HAWK, and yes I am still trying to one-up you! I am signing up and can't wait.
ReplyDeleteHi Mel! Yay!!
DeleteOOOOH YES BABY! Can't wait! I've been wanting to learn how to sew a blazer for a very long time. This will be so exciting. Thank you for offering the class Mimi. YOU ROCK!
ReplyDeleteYay!! I am excited too.
Deletehey Mimi, I am so grateful for your blog! I moved to Las Vegas from the bay area, and I no longer have my sewing buddy (my Grandmother) because she is not a good instructor over the phone. LOL! I appreciate all that you do on here because I am able to take tips and tricks and apply them to projects I am working on! Sorry for the ramble, I say all that to ask about thread! Is there a specific type that you find holds up better than others? I just decided to try a polyester thread to see if that held up better than my cotton ones, but I also quilt so I have been using cotton thread for so long that I did not pay attention to all of the selection in the stores!
ReplyDeleteI use poly thread in my sewing, coats and clark all purpose ;-)
Deletethis is a great look- I love the earth tones and the jeweled T!
ReplyDeleteI am all signed up. I am so looking forward to October now!
ReplyDeleteAwesome sweater. Seeing it on the model, I would not have given it a second look. however, it looks great on you.
Yay!!! thanks
DeleteSigned up and I'm sitting here with machine on table....ready!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL, you are funny.
DeleteYes I am so excited about this and will definitely be signing up. I also want that same floral blazer you made lol
ReplyDeleteOh boyy! Excited & scared! I think the Regal Skirt is the most detailed thing I've made. Jackets/blazers & pants make me nervous just thinking about it! But you're a Great teacher so I'll give it a try! Lol
ReplyDeleteDon't you worry one bit, I have your back ;-) lol
DeleteThis is great! If we get employment again soon I am sooooo doing this. If not just take my two cents that I think this is a great thing you're doing, sharing your talents and teaching others. I wish you and everyone much success with their blazers!!
ReplyDeleteHi Mimi,
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! I'm excited to sign up for the tutorial but I have a question first.
Do I have to access the class at the same time every week or is it at my leisure for a specified amount of time?
Thanks ;)
Folliclephile
Hi doll!
DeleteOh no that would not be convenient for anyone, lol once you sign up and you get your pdf you can log in any time you want. I will post the new class every monday for 5 mondays but they will be on the site for you to access anytime and for as long as you want after the 5th class is posted.
xoxo
Im so in!!!! thanks
ReplyDeleteHi Mimi,
ReplyDeleteI've been reading your blog for a little over year and really wanted to start sewing. You inspired me. I received a sewing maching last year and tried some very simple garments, a skirt with elastic waist and maxi dress. The skirt came out nicely but the dress is still a work in progress. I recently reviewed your site and saw the skirt tutorial and was going to try it over the next couple of weeks. Do you think it's too soon for me to try the blazer tutorial? If so, if I pay for the class now, will I have access later once I've completed the skirt?
BTW - I'm actually taking Beg. Sewing currently at LBCC. We start making PJ pants tonight. So, I feel comfortable with sewing just wasn't sure if the blazer would be over my head.
Thank you so much for your tutorials, OOTD's, beauty and fitness tips. You truly have inspired me!
Jana'e
Oooooohhhhhhh Weeeeeee!!!! If I master a blazer. Watch out now!!!! :-) I signed up for this. A blazer is my #1 fear. If you help me conquer this fear.......I owe you 1 million hugs and kisses. LOL.
ReplyDeleteOk...I've stepped off that cliff and signed up! Let's roll to my FAB jacket!
ReplyDeleteMimi where is the photo of the blazer? Just wanted to see it before ordering, thx Ro
ReplyDelete:-( my sewing machine is broken and the simple steps I usually take isn't fixing it. Will the class be available to purchase at any time?
ReplyDeleteMimi, I have ordered your products before, I really like you style and all you do to help newbies like myself. I am going now to order the blazer tutorial . Really want to learn to make a blazer!
ReplyDeleteYou a truly a god send!!!
