Hello! i hope you guys are having great weekend! I wanted to share a tutorial on how I made my obi belt so below you will find a printable pattern on 8.5" x 11 paper that you can tape together (will take you less then 5 minutes) and a printable instruction page. I have recently had new followers who have shared in an interest in sewing so I put together a 6 min video to help those new to sewing understand some of the things written on the instruction page.
I hope you like the tut :) and remember if you have any questions feel free to email me.
Hi Mimi! You're so sweet! You have spent your time, doing the pattern and the tutorial of the Obi Belt! Thank you so much! Kisses from Portugal! Helena Alves (Lisboa)
I've wanted to make an Obi Belt for a while but couldn't find a good tutorial. I was going to just wing it but now I don't have to. Thanks for putting this together. I'll let you know how it turns out after I make it. (^_^)
Thanks so much for sharing. I love your style and your blog. I have copied a few of ur looks. Thanks much. I'm a beginner sewer. I'm going to try this belt. Please keep this great blog going.
I saw something like this in a catalog, but it was super expensive! Just googled and found your tutorial. Looks awesome, I can't wait to make this belt for myself!
I just happened to stumble across this on a day of creating:) I am rummaging through my fabrics to get on one right now! Thank you for your easy peasy vid!!
Hi, is there anyway to be able to wear it with out tying it, almost like a cumberbund or sash? I want it as plain as possible in the front and no obvious ties in the back.
thank you so much mimi for the useful tutorial,i featured you on my blog and here is my Obi belt :) 1.bp.blogspot.com/-sg7ygm4Y6Gk/UM2OkMSd8DI/AAAAAAAAAKI/PYXgCDhHFTo/s1600/IMG_4670.JPG thanks again ,hugs and kisses.
Thank you so much for the tutorial. Can't wait to make several in different colors. What kind of fabric are you using for this? I assume regular fabric will not cut it as it's too flimsy. Thanks for your help!
I'm so excited to make this like right now! Mimi, you and a friend inspired me to sew. I've even signed myself and my daughter up for a class. Thank you for sharing your talent and skill. May God continue to bless you.
Hey Mimi! I just stumbled upon your tutorial on youtube and I really like how easy you've made this. I want to make a satin obi to wear with a dress the seamstress didn't get just right (it's not so big I'd want to alter, but it is loose on my waist and being a silver chiffon, this makes me look akin to a baby elephant...). Do you think I could use the same pattern but make it double sided plus use a "hardening fabric" (I'm Finnish, I have no idea what you call it, but I mean that sticky stuff you can iron on any fabric to make it sturdier) in the centre part?
