  7. This dress looks amazing! I just discovered your Instagram and blog this weekend and absolutely LOVE your style. I have never sewn anything besides a button, but would love to learn if it would mean I could make clothing like this!! How would you recommend a newbie to start? Are your tutorials for people with previous experience? Thank you in advance!

  14. Mimi-will you share where you purchased your T-shirt from and the red/white stripe frabic. I am on vacation and purchased the tutorial. I can't wait to get home and try it!!!

    1. The t-shirt I used is from target, lol and the red and white striped fabric I got locally here in downtown at a small whole in the wall. The green is from "highendfabrics" on ebay (my friend) but Joann carries a really great green jersey I just saw too.

    2. Yes, they do. I used the green jersey to make one of my maxi skirts and it has a great feel and flow to it.

  18. Hi Mimi!

I've been following your blog for a couple months now and have also turned my mom onto it as well since she's a seamstress. I wanted to send a note to tell how much of an inspiration you are! I'm married with no children and a demanding job and often feel there's not enough time in the day to do anything other than work. But following you and seeing how hard you work along with so many responsibilities is so encouraging to me!! Thank you and I'll be sure to keep you and your family in my prayers.

    Take Care :)

  25. Very flattering, Mimi. I couldn't help picturing this piece paired with your Guess Dark Rose Suede Pump featured in last Saturday's post. Matter-of-fact, the Nine West Elise Water Color Pump works as well. Again, very flattering.

    1. LOL< you can sew, have you tried with one of my tut's?

      Delete
    2. Exactly. It really isn't rocket depending on what you want to make but it does take practice. I can't sew non stretch fabric to save my life{pencil skirts?lol not happening right now} neither can I sew sleeves but I can make sleeveless tank tops, jersey/lycra clothing, bags/purses{they mostly only require straight lines.lol}. I've only been sewing two years. You can do it.

  29. greetings mimi, i was wondering what would happen if i used a less fitted fabric, i like the silhouette but i only wear super modest fitting clothes and would not want any of the cling that this has. do yu have any suggestions for fabrics that could work?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The fabric is a knit fabric and it is not clingy, I just have mine fitted that way, you can ad as much ease to yours as you'd like. The knit fabric is just a fabric, it is the fit (fitted or not) that you deicide ;-)

  30. LOVE THIS! Buying this tute, I made a t-shirt based maxi, but I don't know how to do the neck or sleeve bindings so this is PERFECT! Also, with the stretch fabric I can wear it while I'm PREGGO! Thanks for all the inspiration and the great videos!

  34. Hi Mimi,

First of all allow me to say that i am LOVING your style and your site- I follow your FB too :)

Anyway, I do not have a sewing machine, nor am I interested in getting one. My question is, do you make these custom for your followers and we can pay you directly for it?
