DIY Dress: Pattern Review Mission Maxi

Hi Guys!!

Today is so beautiful outside, its 82 degrees here and sunny! I have already made the Mission Maxi before but it is one of the best maxi patterns I have and it is so fast and easy to make I new when I picked up my leopard print jersey that it would make a great maxi dress.

Pattern Description: Maxi dress with variations

Pattern Sizing: I cut size 2

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? This is as simple as it gets. I love how quick it sews up.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I am a huge maxi fan so having this as my TNT is fantastic, it is easy to alter, add design changes etc.

Fabric Used: Cotton print jersey I got for $3 a yard in the fashion district.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None

Would you sew it again? Umm yeah, I will be making a few more with some design changes.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes!

V1285 Update & What I Wore

So I posted on my FB that I was making V1285 so this weekend I cut out the pattern and my fabric and because I was working with a knit  I didn't bother to make a muslin, that was a mistake because I have a small upper body and I should have known after making a million Vogue patterns that I needed to fit the top mock wrap but I was being lazy!

After I cut my fabric and started to sew it together I tried on the top portion of the dress and HATED it, let me tell you why....the bands are too wide for my body so I needed to have trimmed a good 7/8" the problem was that I had already trimmed the excess on the bands and neck edge so I couldn't just remove them, trim and reattached because I had already chopped of the SA, lol! dumb, dumb, dumb.

Anyway I was so irritated with myself by then that I just didn't want to bother any longer and I didn't have enough fabric to re-cut the bodice so I chucked it in the corner and went to bed MAD.AS.HELL, I guess I will try again with another fabric :-(

What I Wore...

F21 Jeans
H&M Cape
F21 Leopard Bag

DIY Dress: Pattern Review of M5705 View E

Pattern Description: Short dresses have elastic casings at waist; dresses, E have long sleeves with elastic casings; dresses D, E have hemmed scoop neck finishes.

Pattern Sizing: I cut the 4

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, I have made this dress before but it somehow has gone missing and fortunately I had saved the remnant fabric and t was just enough to make another.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the sleeves and I love the scoop neck.

Fabric Used: Silk Jersey

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None except shorten the hem by 1.5"

Would you sew it again? I might in a black Silk Jersey and turn it into a maxi.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes

Conclusion: Very easy dress to wear and really cute!

I wore it to work today with my leopard boots!
