DIY Top + And Sometimes She Wears Flats and No Sunnies...

Happy Wednesday Darlings! I am in such a great mood today and feeling so much better then yesterday. Whatever "sick" feeling I had is gone (yay airborne)! Yes, I am wearing flats and while taking pics this morning I was feeling naked then realized I didn't have my sunnies on.

Anyway, today I am wearing a DIY top I made a long time ago and never wore using Vogue 1208 which is actually a dress pattern but after I made the dress I didn't like it but wanted to save my polka dot fabric so instead I chopped it off and made a top. The pattern is cut on the bias so treating, stretching, relaxing and pressing always take much more time when you work on the bias because the cutting and sewing can be tricky if you are not familiar with the process; this is a great article by Threads Magazine that can fully explain the process.

 Playing with Textures 

mixing my cords with a silky polka dot print and adding my studded flats adds texture and depth to my look, the leopard belt is an added touch.

What I Wore | Pretty In Pink + Let's Meet?

Happy Hump Day!!

So I have been told that several of you live in California so I was thinking that it would be great since some of you have asked for a tour of the downtown fabric district that we all meet up!

 If you live near Los Angeles or are willing to trek down for the day I think it would be fun to plan a "fabric Shopping" trip where I can show you how to get through the million little shops how to check fabric, how to decide if a fabric would work for your project etc. and then we can all have lunch and chat....let me know how many are interested and I will plan accordingly. If you are from out of town and want to participate let me know so I can plan far enough out to accommodate your travel. WooHoo!! sounds like fun!

I'm Wearing Favorites + Damn Knee

It's Tuesday and I am in for a fun filled day of running around so today was a jeans and sneakers kinda day. If you don't know, I have a really bad knee which my doc says now has zero cartilage and is basically bone on bone and just for kicks my knee decided it also wanted a case of arthritis under the knee cap..how nice! LOL

The odd thing is that you would think because of my bad knee that I would need to wear flat shoes often but it is actually the other way around for me. When I wear heels I think my body weight shifts and I can go all day without a single bit of pain from my knee but if I wear flats for more than a day my knee starts to hurt so bad, isn't that strange? LOL any excuse to justify my wearing 6" heels daily BWHAHAHAHAH

Today I just couldn't imagine running around in heels so I will use up my "one day flat shoe allowance" 

 Wearing Favorites!

I love my GAP T-shirt because it says London on it and London is one of my favorite cities ever! I always have such an amazing time when I am there and I can't wait to get back! My jeans are from Express which I am sure you have seen me wear several times, they are so COMFY and have just enough distress and slouchiness for me. I buy jeans at different places but I think these are in my top ten.

Now let's talk about my Jacket, Can I just tell you that I bought this Jacket at GAP about 5 years ago and I LOVE IT! I wish they would release it again in different colors so I buy more, lol and of course I am carrying my latest Michael Kors purchase (bought it last month), this bag is so the right size and it it is quickly becoming a fav of mine to carry! Im wearing my Sketchers plain white sneaks and my Favorite Tory Burch Sunnies, I love how dark they are and kinda bad ass, lol

Pattern Description: Fitted Straight Shorts

Pattern Sizing: I cut size 4

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? These are super simple so if you have made a pair of pants before you will breeze through this.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love this pattern because I never find shorts with the right fit, length or style. This pattern gives me all of that!

Fabric Used: I used a stretch sateen in bright yellow

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None

Would you sew it again? I will be making a few more of these.


Would you recommend it to others? Yes!

Conclusion: I love my pants! and I got to wear them with my DIY top I spoke about a few months ago.
