DIY Eggshell Dress + Pattern Review V8706

Hi Darlings!

What do you guys have planned for the 4th? We take it pretty easy around here because I don't like being out during holidays where people tend to drink heavily, lol. I feel safer at home but the kids love the fireworks so we always manage to find a nice hillside to watch them. We use to go to the lake but every year it started getting more and more crowded and I just don't have patience for it.

Please be safe and have a great time!

Today's dress is an old pattern that is now OOP (out of print) V8706 but can still be purchased online and sometimes you may even find it in the pattern drawers at Joann's. I used a lightweight Modal Knit which is just scrumptious. If you have never worked with an eco friendly, superior knit you must try it! I like it mostly because it has such a yummy hand and has great recovery; It's also a very multi-purpose fabric great for t-shirts, dresses, lounge wear and even pajamas.

Dress DIY / Necklace (Gifted) / Shoes (clearance at Ross)

Pattern Description: V8706  Close-fitting, above mid-knee length, bias pullover dress has gathers, mock wrap front with asymmetrical seaming, piping at armholes and stitched hem.

Fabric Used: Modal Knit HERE (use coupon code "MIMI10") also avialable in several fab colors!

Pattern Sizing: I cut the 6 because my fabric had a significant amount of give and even then I ended up taking it in a bit.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? For a Vogue pattern this was pretty quick to sew up, honestly I think I may have made it in just over an hour after cutting out the pieces. The only thing that could be confusing to some is the one piece facing but if you just follow the diagram you should be fine. I didn't find it confusing but I have also sewn a considerable amount of Vogue patterns. The fabric is cut on the bias which I thought was interesting but it did allow, even with the stretch in my fabric, for the dress to pulled on and not need a zipper because the bias increases the give, that was a smart drafting choice for Vogue. If you are unfamiliar with Bias THREADS has a great article HERE

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love any dress that has gathering, lol it is just sew sexy and forgiving too.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I didn't make any changes to it.

Would you sew it again? I wont say no because I might make it in black just to have a casual go to LBD in my closet, you can never have too many.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes
