Hi Darlings!
I took the weekend to myself and enjoyed some time in my studio. I set out to plan the next 7-8 items I plan to make over the next week and I was hoping to sew more on Sunday but instead enjoyed the day with my family; I did however sew 4 items on Saturday, 3 dresses and a skirt. Todays dress is one of the items I made this weekend and couldn't wait to wear because the fabric is so silky soft on my skin and the print is just gorgeous, the pic does not do it justice.
H&M Belt (old)
Pattern: Pattern M6700 (on sale online for $1.99) Pullover dress has fitted, mock wrap bodice, shoulder ties, elasticized shoulders and raised (seamed) waist, fitted, narrow hem, thread carriers and self belt.Use Coupon Code: "MIMI10" fro 10% off your purchase.
Pattern Sizing: I cut the 8 and made a small fit adjustment to the bodice.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope when you were done? Yep
Were the instructions easy to follow? This is a fast and easy dress to make, which is why it has been such a popular pattern this season.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Ummm It's a maxi, I love anything that is a maxi, lol and I had seen it made up several times already so I knew when I came across the right fabric I would be making it. It is flowy, fun and fast to make which makes it a #winner
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I took out about 1" out of the bodice because it was a little too big for my small frame.
Would you sew it again? I have so much more patterns to make but if I need quick and easy or an instant gratification project I may pull it out and make it out of a fall transitional fabric and wear it with a blazer.
Would you recommend it to others? Most certainly!
That is gorgeous Mimi! I love your style!

DeleteDYING over the fabric, another great look! Your eye is unmatched.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
Deleteabsolutely beautiful. You are truly motivating me to go back to sewing. I am 40 and the last time I was on a sewing machine. I was a junior in high school
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteThe dress is cute and I like how you accessorized it with the belt, giving it a different look. I love your hairstyle in this picture. But when you lifted the dress to show the SHOES! Oh my! The shoes are to die for. You are the best! I say that to myself everytime I get your e-mail, you really are the BEST!!
ReplyDeleteYou are blessed, dear lady. Not only do you sew beautifully, but I have yet to see you looking less than spectacular in every thing you make. Not only are you motivating me to get back to sewing (one I lose the rest of this weight), but to use it as impetus to stick to the diet, to make sewing worthwhile. My days of being young are long gone but not my desire to look good. Thanks to you and a few other sewing blogs I follow - Goodbye Valentino, Diary of a Sewing Fanatic among others - I will get back to it. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Nancy and so happy you are inspired!
DeleteHow did I miss that fabric at Michael Levine. The maxi is beautiful. I have been inspired to make one for myself.
ReplyDeleteIt is still online ;-)
DeleteI have made that dress also. It was a big hit when I wore it to a dinner party with friends. Many compliments did I receive.
ReplyDeleteI did find the armholes a little snug. I will adjust when I make it again.
