DIY Skirt: Pattern Review B5756

Pattern Description: Misses Skirts

Pattern Sizing: size 8

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes,  kind of.

Were the instructions easy to follow? I didn't use them because its a pretty simple pattern.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the waist bands and of course the fact that it is a maxi.

Fabric Used: Grey Matte Jersey

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Well, the pattern had TWO panels for front and back which to me meant that there was going to be A LOT of gathering and I didn't want my maxi to be full so I only used one panel cut on the fold for the front and the same for the back, this allowed me to softly gather and avoid any bulk from all that damn fabric they wanted me to use.

Would you sew it again? I am sure I will because maxi skirts are a spring staple for me, they are easy and comfy.

Would you recommend it to others? yes, with the modifications, unless you want a bunch of fabric bulking up at the hip bone, LOL

DIY Dress: Pattern Review of B5672

Pattern Description: Close fitting, lined dress has left side invisible zipper, left dart and left pleats from drape effect

Pattern Sizing: I cut the 8

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, I kinda breezed through them since the pattern is pretty simple but what I did read was good.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked the side pleats and since it is fully lined I really liked it.

Fabric Used: Off white Ponte

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I have a long torso so I added 5/8" to the bodice front/back.

Would you sew it again? As a matter of fact I think I will because I want to try it in a color block.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes

DIY Top: Pattern Review V1282

V1282

I ordered some mint green fabric to make this top but over the weekend I decided to make it in this dark teal which I love. I remember reading Erica B's post on FB about the top being low cut and her stating that if your sexy and you know let it be so I did..cuz I'm a rebel like that! then I tried it on and I went from sexy to sluty real quick, LMAO! so I sewed that sucker up a few inches.

Pattern Description: Loose-fitting, bias, pullover top has draped front neckline with weight, no side seams and stitched hem.

Pattern Sizing: I cut size 4

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? This actually sewed up really quickly and it's just one piece so the cutting took no time at all.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the flow of the top but it was really low cut! so I sewed it up a bit like the other reviewers. I made the skirt a few weeks ago and HATED it, the strange small pleats in the butt were weird to me and I just didn't like it so I trashed it. I am only keeping the pattern because I like the top.

Fabric Used: Lightweight Silk Jersey

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None

Would you sew it again? Yes, I am going to make it in a mint green, I'm just waiting for UPS to deliver :)

Would you recommend it to others? Yes!

New Butterick Patterns | WTH???

Okay this is why I get so frustrated with the Big 4! I mean you have an entire design team, you KNOW the trends! so WHY do you keep recycling the same patterns with different pics? do you think we don't notice?

Seriously, look at this

has been circulated too many times and why? its not cute!

Okay its cute and I could make this work but it looks just like another pattern from butterick from a few seasons ago.

Out of all the new patterns this is the only one that I can see me working with right now, the pattern envelope is not cute! and that fabric is not cute but look beyond it.

I can make this skirt work and it's in line with the maxi skirts right now but it's just a maxi skirt.

How many times have you seen this pattern in rotation? yeah exactly!

Maggie London? Really? SMH

ENOUGH ALREADY! geez how many of these can you put out every season?

I waited and waited and waited for these to come out, I am disappointed.

What I Wore | Meh

Today is one of those days. I pulled out my outfit for today last night and when I woke up this morning I just didn't feel like wearing what I had pulled out, lol. I didn't feel like teetering around in heels or a dress and I didn't feel like looking glamorous (sacrilege I know!) I just wanted to be comfortable.

I think I put on at least 5 tops before I just gave up and went with my trusty old plain white T :-)
