DIY Dress: Colorblocking Love!

Hello!!!

Okay I just couldn't wait so I took some pics of me in the Heidi Merrick inspired dress this morning.
Then I changed and went to work, lmbo! you will see that outfit tomorrow ;-)

I used NL 6083 and added 6.5" to the length because the pattern is for a top not a dress.
I cut the pattern into sections and added seam allowances. I wanted the back one solid color so I didn't change anything except adding the length and I wanted it to be a pullover dress so I didn't add any zippers.
I also wanted the sleeves to be a solid color so the only adjustment I made was to take them in a bit for a slim fit.

I used a crepe back satin for the dress but used the non shiny side.

When the sun is out and shining I'll take some pics for you guys ;-)

    Birdbug again: Seriously Mimi...Heidi Who...the dress on that pattern is far, far less attractive than your DIY one. Your dress is so much more taylored, fitted and store bought looking for a lack of better words...lol! Great, great job as usual!

    I love love love the colors! I also like the fact that it's able to be made into a dress. I'll have to check this one out. I think I'd make my version knee length. Do you think it would look right at that length?

      Yes it would look great knew length just make sure to keep the dress from tenting.

    This color block shift dress is amazing! I have been wanting to make one of these for a while now and I'm totally inspired to get moving on mine. I love how you only color blocked the front and left the back solid. Doing so really makes the front stand out! I simply love it! ;)

    Dang, Mimi, you beat me to the punch. I had saw this look on Atlantic-Pacific and shopbop.I had just went to the store and got the colors I wanted. I love your version of the dress , and I also love the addition of the salmon/ coral back. Thanks for sharing the pattern and your pics. I'm definitely going to use that pattern as my base. One question, does the crepe back satin iron well and minimal puckering?

      I had no puckering that the steam couldn't fix and the crepe worked really nicely! it irons just fine.
