I also have a GREAT GIVEAWAY! This book is a WONDERFUL resource for newbies learning to sew and even seasoned seamstresses too because I still sometimes reference this book when I want an alternative to a construction method in a commercial pattern. The book @ $99.00 is a bit pricey but well worth it and it is filled with great illustrations and clear and concise instructions.

DIY LOVE
I also wanted to share my latest DIY which is this uber comfy maxi dress; I saw one online for $59 and although it was super cute I knew I had similar striped fabric in my stash so I took an old tshirt that I love but is a little too worn to wear out and carefully cut it into usable pattern pieces and added length and I was done. Now I have a reusable pattern to make myself a few dozen of these, LOL....maybe ill show you how I did it? what say you?
Dress DIY (similar) HERE, HERE or with long sleeves HERE / Ombre Sunnies (old) similar HERE / Bangles and Bracelets (various) Forever 21 / Clutch (old) Forever 21 similar HERE or HERE /

THat is an awesome color dress!!! I love that color orange. (At least I think it is orange. It could be red for all I know, LOL!!!) Yeah, the title threw me off a bit also. My eyes about sprouted feet and walked off my face with that word. LOL!!! Yes, I would love for you to teach us how to make that dress!!! I started on the mission maxi. All that is needed now is to stitch it up and bind it up. However, the dress will be too small for me for now. I thought that maybe it would fit being an 18, but I am still a bit hazy on measuring something that will fit me or on modifying a pattern to fit me. I had the ditto sheet with all measurements I am suppose to take, but I am not sure where it is now. Do you still have a link for it?
ReplyDeleteHi Mimi!! I would love the book. Love all your tuts!
ReplyDeleteLove the dress. Reminds me of Tamara's blue maxi at the meet and greet, which I love so much. Can I please win the book? -Joy-

ReplyDeleteWould LOVE to win the book!
ReplyDeleteHi Mimi,
ReplyDeleteWhat say us....we say YES....I would love to make a maxi like that....what fabric did you use...jersey? Also winning the book would be extremely helpful.
Story...I tried converting an old denim dress into a top (it had a collar and buttons to about the natural waist...so a high low denim top would have been perfect). After cutting off the extra fabric....I moved on to the sewing machine....started sewing the hem. When I got to the curved edges, I realized I didn't know how to hem curved edges (in my head it seemed so easy...lol). Long story short.....my denim dress is now a pin cushion. I really need that book....
Doris.
Hey Mimi,
ReplyDeleteWould love to win the book. Also....'we' say YES to the tutorial.
