DIY Belted Poncho & Removable Neck Warmer + Pattern Review

Hi Darlings!

Todays OOTD is a throw it on and run out the door look lol. I was running so late this morning that I  put some jeans on and grabbed my recently made belted poncho. I made it a few weeks ago but have been so busy I hadn't had time to wear it. I also made the neck warmer from the extra fabric I had, it is removable so I don't have to wear it all day, especially when it warms up here in Cali.

It's super simple to make and works great for days when you just need something fabulous to through over some jeans and a t-shirt! I grabbed my red target bag to bring out the red in the plaid and off I went to start my day. I hope you guys have a wonderful day!!

DIY Poncho / Gap Jeans / Steve Madden Booties / Target Bag (similar) HERE

Pattern Description: M6209

Pattern Sizing: I cut the x-small

Fabric: 100% Tartan Plaid Wool HERE

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? So easy you don't even need them, lol I could have made this blindfolded...okay maybe to blindfolded but yes it was very easy to make.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I was in need of a great belted poncho and I LOVED the idea of making it in plaid.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None. I made the neck warmer separate and used no pattern.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes

  1. DANG, Mimi! My birthday is Tuesday, but we're celebrating next Sunday (the 19th) with brunch. You KNOW you've picked out my whole outfit for me, right?!?!? This poncho, that double peplum in Wine. I already have jean leggings and nude pumps similar to yours!!! Even got a wine colored Coach bag for Christmas from my husband that will go well with the outfit!!! THANKS for helping me look FLY this fall!!!!

  2. Love the fabric choice. I swear I am stalking your blog daily to see what you come up with next. I love everything!

  3. Beautiful, Mimi!

Don't know if you'd be interested in this... I really wanted to make a Holiday skirt for Christmas Sunday. Being a new sewer, I wanted something that my hands created. I had two concepts in mind and they both involved a leather waistband, given my new found love for leather trimmings/accents on clothing. I thought of your Regal Maxi Skirt with leather waistband and sash (would have also been made with a heavier material, like wool, since I spent the Holidays in NY) and I also thought of a Tulle Skirt, which is the one I did attempt, but epically failed. I used a silk (or was it print for the lining, which was sooooo GORG, but I just couldn't bring it all to fruition.

You probably couldn't be any busier, but would you be interested in DIYing anyone, or both, of the skirts described? A big fat NO is quite alright.
