Hi Darlings!
Okay first I want to say thank you so much for the support, Adrienne and I appreciate it very much. Because of the extraordinary support for STITCHED9 we are SOLD OUT and I mean OUT of the peplum mini in a little under 24hrs. The orders flooded in and so until all f these are produced and shipped we are NOT taking any further orders. I'll update if and when I decide to put it back up.
Now on to the topic of the day.... I made a video for my youtube channel on "How To Successfully Shop Forever 21 For My 30 Somethings" because I disagree with the, "Is Forever 21 is too young for me?" question. The answer is no; you just need to know HOW to shop it...IF you want to shop it that is. So I put together a few helpful tips plus a look at my recent haul.
My OOTD is all Forever21 (minus the shoes)!
Forever 21 Blazer (similar) HERE & HERE / Forever 21 Leggings HERE / Forever 21 Button Up (similar) HERE / Charlotte Russe Ankle Boots HERE
Love this look....I must get those shoes. Mimi you are the best that ever did it!!!
ReplyDeleteHi mimi....
ReplyDeleteluuuuuuuv this video, and so on point. I am 45, and D.E.F.I.N.I.T.E.L.Y. shop at F21. When I mentioned it to someone, they looked at me like...."ain't you too old to shop there"? But my theory is "You're only as old as you feel." I think if you a have a youthful look, youthful personality (i didn't say young girl) TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF PHYSICALLY a.k.a. excercise, then you can shop CERTAIN items at F21, it's not for everybody, and you can't buy everything from F21, but if you know how to pair it with other essential items that you already have...YOU CAN WORK IT....as you do!!!! : - )

ReplyDeleteI love your style!!! Great video again :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I remember walking into a forever 21 last year for what must have been the first time. I was amazed at what caught my eye. I definitely spotted a few pieces that were suitable for those beyond the 21 yr. range. Good points. You can usually always make *something* work in stores like that. And I hear you on the whole tank top making thing.~
ReplyDeleteI am also a Forever 21 shopper (I'm 43), I am totally addicted to their tanks of which I have many. It is my number 1 staple. I wear them all year long- singularly or layered in spring and summer and under my shirts and sweaters during fall and winter. $1.88 to $2, clearly fits my budget. Also the cheapy jeans they have for $8 look beautiful on- I am a Levi's girl mainly (about 20 pair or so), but I love the look and feel of the F21 jeans- they DO NOT last long at all though, but when I had to buy a pair when I idiotically put a pen in my pocket and it predictably leaked, I flew to F21 for a quick replacement pair of pants for the day.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I have an aunt who is in her late 60's and loves forever 21. She loves their dressier top and their leggings. Like you said, it buying the right clothing for your age and style.
ReplyDeleteI love this video - you are so hilarious! And I love how passionate you are about this topic. I tend to shop more at TJMaxx than I do at Forever21 just because I assume I can get the same style of clothes for better quality. But after your video, I'll totally consider shopping at F21 to get more inexpensive on trend things - like the jewelry you showed. And - I LOVE that knit blazer, what a great buy!
ReplyDeleteI'm the opposite - I'm young but I like to shop at certain stores that cater to older women because they fit my body shape better. People are baffled when I tell them where I got things ("I thought that store was for old ladies?!"), but it's all about the pieces you pick!
ReplyDeleteThanks for shopping tips..I am 44 yrs. I do like to change my styles for both business and fun look.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you regarding the basics. Im 48 and I pop in _Forever 21 on occasion. The only issue I have with them is they dont allow you to return for refund. To me thats just bad business.
ReplyDeleteI too love forever 21... and I'm 34yrs young they have great pieces for everyone ...great post
ReplyDeletewhen I buy really cheap items I hand wash them instead of machine wash and that way I have them a little longer especially with pieces that you buy from stores like Forever 21
ReplyDeletePlease post how you style your faux leather overalls! I have some that I love but have no idea what to do with them.
ReplyDelete66 years of age .....but still feeling 16............I'm an artist......and have NEVER felt terribly conservative......so the styles you wear are wonderful to me...............and the shoes of many colors.... phantasmagorical.............. :>}
ReplyDeleteIm a 42 year old grandma and FOREVER 21 is one of my favorites. My oldest is 22 and my youngest is 11. I love there jeans and shirts. I dont think that i should be walking around in the SHEER OR PEEK A BO dresses unless its behind doors with my man. But, EVERY event calls for something different. Its important to know what not to wear at that business meeting, and to know how to take your 9 til 5 outfit and change it to your happy hour GO GET EM outfit. Something as simple as adding or removing a scarf, a blazer, and hoop earrings can make ALL the difference. I love how MIMI G gets this, her fashion passion to teach others, its greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteOther places to shop for 40 and up, H&M, AMI Clubwear , BeBe. (ALTHOUGH BeBe NEVER HAS PLUS SIZE MODELS. )
I'm with you Mimi, I love Forever 21 for some basic items like leggings, sweaters and jewelry. I believe that it's all about how you wear the pieces and incorporate them with other items that you have. I am in my 40's and feel and look youthful and my wardrobe reflects that. I also shop at H&M, The Limited, New York & Company as well as Nordstrom. Its all about knowing what to buy and working those pieces with other cute items.
ReplyDeleteI agree Teah! I shop in those same stores it's all about knowing what really works for you! I'm in my 40's as well.
DeleteThis video was great! I love F21 and I'm 30. And also...GIRL you look FREAKING FANTASTIC for having two teenagers! Jealous.
ReplyDeletework mimi! love it! I also really like the vid.

Thanks for your blogs and tutorials Ms Mimi G. I have been sewing for only a year on a basic machine and saved money to buy the exact sewing machine from your bday giveaway. I'm excited to do more of your tutorials and try your patterns! Take care. <3 :-)
ReplyDeleteI love F21. I am in my 30s but style doesn't have an age. So I say shop where you'd like to shop, find pieces that work for you and your lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteLove the video and your style.

ReplyDeleteCute outfit - the Booties are killa!
ReplyDeleteThis works for this 48 year old "nanna" too! Love it Mimi!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat post and video, I'm 34 and I frequently shop at Forever21. I'm a slim girl and they always cater to my size. Like you have my favorite stores but I can always find something in Forever21. (I like shopping online vs the store) Its funny because I too get a lot of compliments and people are shocked that I got it from Forever21 items. They always have amazing accessories too.
ReplyDeleteOMG 'Mimi I saw the same Jessica Alba pic and decided I was going to make the look as well. It is in my photo album and I actually made the skirt in blue and black and decided to go with an off white crop sweater! Great minds I tell you great minds!
ReplyDeleteWho are your Aviator sunnies by?
ReplyDeleteAlmost 47 year old here, I work some pieces from F21. Their F21+ size jeans are the best!
