7 Things About Me + Why I Was Sad Today

How sweet of Jill to give me this award ;-) So I have to tell you 7 things about me...

1. I only sleep with socks on, lol and will wear them no matter how hot it is.

2. I only like plain donuts you get at he supermarket and I dunk them in coffee

3. I will read the last chapter of a book if I have been reading and get bored but need to know how it ended.

4. My hubby does most of the cooking and cleaning so that I can sew ;-) I <3 him!!

5. I am terrible at saving money!!!! TERRIBLE

6. I MUST drink coffee before I go to bed at night, it relaxes me.

7. I HATE talking on the phone and if I can text/email my way through life I would.

8. *Bonus* I am actually really shy ^_^

Why I Was Sad
I wanted to share why I was feeling awful today, my friend Liz who also works with me was "laid off" today ;-( we spent every lunch together for the last 4 years and went shopping or sat around laughing hysterically at nothing. I will miss her and my days at work just won't be the same without her here.

  1. Aww bummer. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend Miss Mimi. I know you of all people can keep her spirits up.

Losing a job totally sucks but also serves as an oppurtunity to do things youve always wanted to do if you didn't have to rely on that very job..like lifelong dreams. Not sure if she has discussed her dreams at all but perhaps you can encourage her to do something new while she looks for something else. Easier said than done, but I know she wouldn't want you to be down in the dumps, ya know? But you are so sweet and compassionate so I totally understand why you would be feeling down.
Stay your sweet and awesome self and I'm sure you will have Liz laughing in no time!

  3. Sorry your friend got laid off. I would be sad too :>(

I really enjoy your blog posts and "put together looks". I am older than you (a bit :>) and still find ideas to rock an outfit.

    Keep up the good work!!

On a serious note though, sorry about your friend, sometimes they make the burden of work feel a lot more like fun- especially when you click well - I kno u kno how catty some women can be. I pray God will bring someone just as special if not more into your life and or maybe God will open an opportunity for you both to work together :)

  8. *High Fives you* on #5 and #7. I absolutely hate to talk on the phone. If you look through my cell, I call the same 3 or 4 people all the time. Sorry about your friend! I hope you guys can still make time for each other.

  9. I'm so sorry to hear about you friend. I was laid off from a job as well, about three years ago. I am working for another company now. But, I still keep in contact with the friends I made at that company. I miss working with them, but we still keep in touch and hang out. Please tell Liz that it will be okay. Take time to have that why me phase, but once she is done with that, get up and keep it moving because something better is in store for her. I can testify to that. Mimi, you are a great woman and a wonderful friend. Continue to uplift her. Lol..I do the same with a book as well. Even if it is a good book ;-)

  11. I am so sorry that your friend was laid off. Make sure to keep her in your prayers and I'll be sure to keep her and you and your family in mine. God works in mysterious ways time and time again.

I have been following your blog for a long time now, but I'm one of those people who silently follow blogs and barely comments. I love how you and my little sister both wear socks whether it's cold or not. Your blog is like hidden gold and I love it!

Keep doing all the amazing things you do. I'll make sure to religiously check your blog everyday.

  13. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. It's so hard out there. I know what it was like after I was let go from my job three years. Sending luck and good wishes to your friend.

When I get bored with a book I skim through it just to say I read it.

  17. :( So sorry to hear about your friend. I'll keep her in my prayers today.
About sleeping with socks, that is the one thing I can't do. I feel like if I had to get up and run in the middle of the night (to get away from robbers or something - I dunno what!!) I wouldn't be able to bc I have socks on. o_O don't ask!! I don't understand it either lol. Have a great weekend. Gretchen

  23. I am so very sorry to hear about your friend being laid off. This is definitely a time within our economy when companies are re-styling themselves. And, unfortunately, letting go of talent figures into their plan. I have been at my company for 11 years and over the last 4-5 years, there have been 8 lay off, with one coming this summer.

I will pray fer her. Hopefully, your company provided a fair and compassionate severance package, allowing her time to find a new position that will use her talents wisely and that she will love.

  24. So sorry to hear about your friend, I hope things turn around for her. Good friends that you can lunch with every day and not tire of them are hard to come by.

Me too on 1 and 3, I always wear socks, no matter how hot it gets. And I love reading mystery and suspense novels and sometimes the suspense is so great I read the last few pages to see who's still alive.

  25. Totally understand about the socks and telephones. I must wear socks to bed too. And I hate talking on the phone too. Thank goodness for text and emails or people would never hear from me. lol
So sorry that your friend got laid off. I hope they realize what a huge mistake they have made and call her back.
Your husband sounds amazing! You need to sew him something cool! He is definitly a keeper.

  26. Sorry about your friend being laid off, I know how it feels to lose a coworker that makes you want to come to work everyday. I am the opposite about sleeping with socks on lol, I just can't do it!. I am also shy and hate talking on the phone lol.I would have never thought that you were shy. Keep it up Mimi, you rock!

  27. i thought i was the only one with the socks to bed thing. don't care if it's over 90 degrees out, i'm still wearing socks or i can't sleep. My boyfriend is the ONLY one i'd rather speak w/ on the phone, everyone else, just text or email me.

  28. I know what it feels like losing a close friend no matter the capacity, so I am terribly sorry for your heartache. On the bright side, I hope your friend can rejoice for when a door closes there is a unique or in sewing lingo 'tailor made' opportunity waiting for her when faith is involved! So blessings to her and just maybe there is someone new coming into your life at work who won't take your girl's place but will be just what you may need at the moment you cross paths. Okay, digressing. I love the idea of reading the last chapter to feed that need to know if I will truly miss out on a good read. And socks? I have to hang one foot out the bed to accommodate my hot/cold nature. My have to have is covers...with that foot hang out thing! LOL Thanks for being transparent my well dressed seamstress shero!

  29. Aww man I was going to call you today! lol j/k I would have never considered you shy cuz I think you're fun. :) Your friend...a relative of mine told me something profound this week and please pass this on to your friend. "Things don't happen to you, they happen FOR you." We learn, grow, and move on from every experience. The door that just closed for her is leading to doors that will now will be open for her.
