DIY Peach Dress + Pattern Review B5886

Hi Darlings!

I am so excited for spring to arrive that I am in full spring sewing action. I picked up a gorgeous peach color poly/rayon from Michael Levine's earlier this week, and I couldn't wait to make it into a gorgeous flowy dress.

The bolt only had a few yards left so, I took it all, but below are a few options that will work just great. The pattern itself calls for Georgette, Linen, Crepe, which are all great choices but I knew I had to make this dress in this color and so I went with the poly/rayon option. The dress can also be made in a two way knit just make sure to stabilize the zipper seam allowance. Some knit options HERE, HERE & HERE make sure to use my coupon code "MIMI10"

Pattern Review Below/ Fabric Above / Steve Madden heels (old) / Tory Burch Sunglasses & Case

Pattern Description: Misses Dress B5886 Lined dress with side zipper, mock bodice wrap.

Pattern Sizing: I cut size 6

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, they are clear and easy to understand.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the neckline and I am a total sucker for a girly, flowy dress.

Fabric Used: Rayon/Poly Blend (other options above)

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I did not need to make any changes to the pattern and only ended up removing about 2" of ease in the bust. I lined the bodice with the fashion fabric but did not have enough for the skirt so I used a lightweight tricot for the skirt lining.

Would you sew it again? Yes I think I need this in black.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes!!!!

  1. I love this dress! I am a sucker for bright flowing dresses such as this one you have made. I wish I had your skills... Hell I wish you lived in the DC area cause I would definitely take some lessons. Keep up the good work and be blessed.

  11. When I get the nerve, I am definitely going to make this one. This is so stylish and flirty and the color is yummy. I like that the back is not open and exposed, it's sexy and conservative at the same time.... Can you tell that I am excited about this dress. You look GREAT and by the pics, you know it too... LOL :)
