I have made both of these items in the past and the links will take you to those posts.
Well I have struck a nerve in my last post, LOL! My intention is to show that although extremely flattered sewing for others is just not what I enjoy and sewing is my hobby NOT how I make a living so I like to keep it fun, taking on clients makes it not fun, for me anyway.
I get my joy from exciting, inspiring and motivating others to want to learn the craft of sewing, It is so rewarding! so if you need advice, have questions or just need a little kick in the butt, I am your girl! If you need something sewn, I am not your girl, LOL but I still love ya'll!
Kelly Green Slacks
Inspired by these $198.00 Alice + Olivia Slacks I pinned
This pattern is my TNT for wide leg slacks. I spent a lot of time the first time I made these to get the fit right because pants can be tricky if you don't fit properly. Now I can sew them without a single fitting since I have made them at least 3 times, LOL
I like the fit of the pants because they come to my natural waist and although in the pattern envelope the slacks are not fitted through the hips I made the adjustment for my personal preference.
Wrap It! Love This Pattern!
M6168 is my go to easy mindless sewing project! because I can never have enough of these!
I used a fantastic sweater knit I got from www.trimfabric.com, this pattern is easy-peasy for sure; it just has a lot of hemming but it is a winner.
How I Wore Them
F21 Belt, Charlotte Russe Necklace, Various Jewelry
My nail polish is Wet & Wild "Candy-Licious"

I'm a new reader, and I luv all of your stuff! Very inspiring, and that's all you need to be. I think I'm going to buy myself a sewing machine! lol Keep inspiring us!
ReplyDeleteHello! Thanks for commenting and visiting my lil ol' blog ^_^ Go get that machine!!!
DeleteYou are so freakin awesome .. I want those pants.. the color is insane... Love, Love, Love
ReplyDeleteThanks!!!!!
Delete^_^
LOL, Thanks Love!
ReplyDeleteI'm the one you would have to give a swift kick in the butt too:( I'm a beginner and often struggle with my size. Almost everything ends up being too big. But I MUST "I don't care how big it end up" sew M6168! LOL! I love your entire ensemble. Can't wait till I can sew pants.
ReplyDeleteLOL!! don't have me come over there!!
DeleteQuestion: Do you cut your pattern based on the measurements given in the back of the pattern envelope?
Lol!! I promise I'm going to do better. I cut based on the measurements given on the back. I actually have only one dress I've made that fit..NOW the secret: I used the wrong type of zipper on it:( *Holds out my hand for a spanking*
DeletePants are the bomb, like the real kind! The color is so pretty! What material did you use?
ReplyDeleteIf you dont mind me asking, how long have you been sewing? I'm asking because I've always wanted to sew and seeing you and all your fab pieces is really giving me the motivation I need to finally get the ball rolling. I just wonder how long it will take and how many garmets I will ruin before I become an expert like you lol.
I used a linen blend and they feel great, LOL! I have been sewing since I was 12 and it took a long time to get to now but it was worth it. I DAMAGED so MUCH fabric but I kept going until I got it right.
DeleteThanks!!!
I love this!!! You look gorgeous!!! The pants are such a fabulous color and paired with the wrap is wonderful!!

luv these pants on you:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Melissa!
DeleteBeautiful pants - I love the color of green. I hope to be such an efficient sewist at some point. Love the black maxi you last posted, too. I am still so amazed at what you can make from patterns that look so ho-hum on the cover (and yes, I do focus more on the technical drawings - but still!)
ReplyDeleteI'm still rooting for you to start your own independent pattern line. I think your style you will inspire a lot of new and seasoned sewers to get started and/or keep on sewing. I think you would create stuff people would actually want to make and wear.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Thanks Lashell
DeleteI love!!!! The colors look amazing and that sweater looks like perfection, I would wear that as much if I could. These pants are a must have, I'll make them when school finishes in a couple weeks!!
ReplyDeleteI love the sweater so much! can't wait to see your pants.
DeleteThis green is gorgeous honey and I totally understand how you feel about doing things for others. I do my own hair girl short long whatever it is what ever I please you know but I get it all the time in the streets do you do hair? Im like yeah my own that's!! would you do others? no why not? and to be honest I just dont like to deal with people. I know that if I do something bad on myself and it doesnt look good I can change it with out having to hear anything from anyone you know? like for me when I do my hair a certain way and it doesnt work then I tell myself next time I do it Im gonna do it this way and that way you know. I dont like people complaining and talking about you and stuff so Im good !! so if you dont like sewing for others Im perfectly ok with it.., girl do you !!! you have an amazing talent honey!!! You better work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
ReplyDeleteLOL, Thanks Jeimy.
Deletexoxo
MA'AM. The fit on those pants! I love how you can make it look just as good (and in this case, better than...because I know they probably wouldn't fit the same) as designer.
ReplyDeleteI'm ready to get that wrap pattern. Sooo many good knits out there.
Thanks!! and I can't tell ya how much I love that wrap pattern.
DeleteYAAAAY Mimi!! I think we have another hit on our hands...
ReplyDeleteActually I KNOW it! lol
LOL, girl you are the best!
DeleteLove those pants! The fit the colour perfect!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Shari!
DeleteThose are FABULOUS!! I really love how you styled them with the cardigan.
ReplyDeleteThanks rachel!
DeleteOooo Lawd...it just ain't fair. You look fantastic! The pants are to die for. How 'bout that potato sack...lol?
ReplyDeleteLOL, I actually went online and looked up potato sacks,LOL
DeleteMimi...I know that your oldest daughter is an artist...but are either of your babies interested in sewing?
ReplyDeleteNope, not even a little bit! 0_o
Deletegorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI usually love all of your sewn projects, however, I'm not that in love with the fit on these pants. They look a little too fitted in a couple areas. Maybe it's the fabric. I love the color and the fabric drape of the pant, but I think you have borderline camel toe in these pants, maybe 1/2"-3/4" of ease would have helped a little better. And the fit in the thighs too. Otherwise, I love the color and now I want a pair of this style pants. I love the wrap sweater as well. And the necklace and other accessories are on point. Btw, what's a potato sack???
ReplyDeleteIts def the fabric, Its a linen so I took it more than usual because it grows like CRAZY! this pic is right after putting them on, by the end of the day they were perfect, LOL
DeleteThe potato sack is a running joke that my friend asked me to do, she said I can look good in anything including a potato sack so she has challenged me to make something out of a potato sack, LOL I am going to take her up on it.
I just looked at a previous post of the same exact pant in a different color. It's the fabric that grabs you a little more. That's all. I have a question, I'm having a hard time storing my patterns, especially the ones I altered. How do you store yours?
ReplyDeleteI buy the big manilla envelopes and I fold my paper pattern, then I do a quick sketch of the garment on the front of the envelope and they sit on a bookcase :-) I also have the pattern hangers but I don't have enough closet space in my studio to hang them. The BIG envelopes work great!
Deletexoxo
Thanks I used to use them in design school, and now I'm thinking why I ever stopped storing them this way. I definitely have a bookcase tha can house my patterns, but I just bought those big ottoman storage cubes from Ross that could house my envelopes and sit on my closet shelves as well. Thanks Mimi! Btw, I'm getting to my blog this very weekend. I'll email you the link.
Delete*squeals with delight* Just "knowin'" that nail polish color and brand reference was for your newbie follower made me smile. I love ev.ah.rhi.thang about your ensemble! The fact that you can make the same pant pattern without a fitting (due to your ridiculously insane post babies bangin' body) is just... I was writing a post inspired by O Mag and one of the meme style questions was "Fav style icon" and I swear on everything I thought of you! I'on even know you like that. This is how you know you bad! Keep up the inspirational work. I also answered the question "I wish I could..." and my unwavering response was SEW! *bows to your greatness*
ReplyDelete*squeals in delight* I love that you've started adding polish/brand info. I'd like to thank the academy for this honor... LOL Seriously, you are such an inspiration. I was writing a meme style post inspired by O Magazine and you came to mind when I had to answer the question of "style icon." The other was when asked "I wish I could..." and immediately I answered SEW! You're such an inspiration. Your post baby body is bangin' and the fact that you can remake a pair a slacks w/o a fitting makes me greener than those pants with ENVY! Thanks for sharing your gift!

ReplyDeleteHi Mimi, I love the fit of your pants. I'm petite with a small waist and big booty so you can just imagine my horror at finding pants that fit well. Anyway, I haven't made pants yet and am a little intimidated :/. I was reading your review on patternreview.com and was wondering if you could do a tutorial on how u construct pants - I know u have alot of requests but maybe you can work this one in there. Your style is awesome btw!!
ReplyDeleteThx Gretchen
I've been so scared to sew...never done it before BUT you have inspired me to get off my butt, take a simple class and get me a machine ASAP!! I'm so in love with the maxi skirts you've made (all 3...the floral print, the bow belt and regular) by summer I hope to have this sewing hobby down! Question do you have instructions for those fab green slacks???
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with those green slacks! Wow just stunning. I saw these in your Vogue pattern review. I'll have to suck it up and give a try at making some slacks now.
ReplyDeleteYou are just the s _ _ _ ! Love your stuff and I'm looking so forward to your patterns !! I hope they will be PDF because I don't know how to use regular ones hahaha ! Have a great holiday Mimi ! !
ReplyDeleteAs always you give me inspiration. I have been sewing longer than you are old, and my taste and style is so much different from your's, but because of you and your great work,I can't wait til the summer time when school is out to start again with my 15 year old granddaughter sewing lessons. I showed her some of your listings and she just kept saying...I like that, over and over again. Keep up the good work Mimi and I hope that your new line of patterns is an overwhelming success.
