DIY Figure Flattering Florals + Tracy Reese Pattern Review V1314

Happy Monday Darlings! A few weeks back in this post I shared my plan for the floral fabric I ordered from Gorgeous Fabrics  to make my Tracy Reese V1314 dress so this weekend I took saturday to myself and got some sewing done. I made this dress, a pair of pants and a top which I will wear this week. Toay however I am feeling really lovely in my floral dress; here is my review of Vogue Pattern 1314 a Tracy Reese Design.

Vogue 1314 Tracy Reese

More pics below

Pattern Description: V1314 Misses Dress

Pattern Sizing: I cut the 6 but altered the pattern by grading down a good 3" on the side seams.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? This pattern is REALLY easy to make, it's just 2 seams and sleeves. The gathering is about as complicated as this gets if you are newbie but it is easy to follow.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked that the gathering was on both sides and in the front and back of the dress. I will say that for this being a designer pattern (Tracy Reese) it is really easy to make and a beginner seamstress could make it. I find that is is similar to the OOP V1020 that reviewed here and has been made by many ;-) the only difference really is the gathering on both sides.

Fabric Used: Jersey Knit with a 4 way stretch from Gorgeous Fabrics

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I had to take out several inches because even though I made the smallest size when I took the flat pattern measurement I knew it was going to be big. I ended up taking 3" off the pattern before cutting into the fabric.

Would you sew it again? YES, this is oneof those patterns that you can make several times to build your wardbrobe, it can be made sleeveless, shorter and can be work with a coat, blazer, shawl, boots, heels etc.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes. If you are a newbie and want to give this a go I would say if you can handle my maxi skirt or dress you can do this for sure. If you are a seasoned seamstress you can sew this with your eyes closed, lol

Conclusion: I knew the minute I say that fabric that I woud be making this dress and I love it!

Happy Tuesday!

I have a ton of sites that I visit during the week but I am always on the hunt for cool stuff and DIY'ers so I have listed a few DIY Tuts below that caught my eye while surfing the net and because I am featuring DIY's I wore my reconstructed Jeans to Maxi Skirt.

I'm also really happy to share a link below for a great site that was sent to me to look at! it's a fantastic online sewing directory for tut's and patterns all in one place!! the creator of SewSet is Jessica who emailed me this morning as I was putting this DIY post together, talk about good timing! Many of you know I am not a "crafts" kind of person but I do love really cool DIY projects that I can use/wear and so here are some that I LOVE and will be making for sure.

*These are my personal picks and I was not paid, asked or encouraged by anyone listed below to feature them*

According to the creator the site is still in the early stages but I must say that the idea and what I have seen so far is fantastic.

Happy Sunday!!!

To celebrate my return home (I'm so dramatic, lol) I have decided that I need to stop hoarding sewing machines, it's a serious problem for me so because I just bought a new machine for myself and one for a friends daughter I decided that I would continue the charity! I would be feel so much better about my new purchase if I gifted my old machine to one of you fabulous followers!!

Let me tell you about her ;-) This is Janome Sew Precise, she has been with me for several years and has been a great machine! She is of course slightly worn as I have used her a lot but she is in great condition and sews like a dream. Continue reading for the giveaway rules.....
I will be including a dvd of myself showing the new owner how to thread the machine and its features. If you want a chance at winning my own personal sewing machine this is what you must do:

DIY Dress: Pattern Review of V1250

Pattern Description: Dresses

Pattern Sizing: I cut size 6

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? This is a really easy pattern and really good for a beginner who wants to try a Vogue pattern.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Well, I think I am the last person to try this pattern, lol I have had it on my "to-sew" list for a while and I finally got around to sewing it. I really love this dress because I like when patterns have surprise construction details that you don't see in the picture. I like the dart at the shoulders and that the skirt wraps from to back with o side seams, clever.

Fabric Used: Lime Green DK

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I sewed it without making adjustments but when I tried it on it was big on the sides and I didn't like the loose look so I had to take it in a good 1.5" on both sides!

Would you sew it again? I might make it again in black just so I can have an easy to wear black dress in my closet.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes!

V1285 Update & What I Wore

So I posted on my FB that I was making V1285 so this weekend I cut out the pattern and my fabric and because I was working with a knit  I didn't bother to make a muslin, that was a mistake because I have a small upper body and I should have known after making a million Vogue patterns that I needed to fit the top mock wrap but I was being lazy!

After I cut my fabric and started to sew it together I tried on the top portion of the dress and HATED it, let me tell you why....the bands are too wide for my body so I needed to have trimmed a good 7/8" the problem was that I had already trimmed the excess on the bands and neck edge so I couldn't just remove them, trim and reattached because I had already chopped of the SA, lol! dumb, dumb, dumb.

Anyway I was so irritated with myself by then that I just didn't want to bother any longer and I didn't have enough fabric to re-cut the bodice so I chucked it in the corner and went to bed MAD.AS.HELL, I guess I will try again with another fabric :-(

What I Wore...

F21 Jeans
H&M Cape
F21 Leopard Bag

Mojo O' Mojo Where Art Thou? & What I Wore Today

I sat in my sewing studio this weekend basically staring at my fabric and trying to decide what I wanted to sew and I ended up with NOT.A.DAMN.THING! This happens to me all the time when I have too many ideas and I want to sew too many things all at once, LOL

When I sit there and can't decide I just get frustrated and then find myself mojo-less :-( I guess I will try again in a few days!

What I Wore..

Sweater @ F21
Skirt @ Chic B
Teal Accessories @ F21
Black Suede Boots

My nails look like Tiffany Boxes, I think I need to paint a white bow on my ring finger :)

My Ombre Sunnies are from Old Navy
